The upcoming DLC will bring new campus locations, student archetypes, courses, classrooms, and more.

Two Point Campus has no shortage of options for players who’re looking to create and manager their own bizarre college campuses, from wizardry schools to spy schools, but if you’re looking for more new content in the game, happily enough, you’ll be getting it soon.

Sega and Two Point Studios have announced Two Point Campus: Space Academy, a new expansion for the management simulator that will, as its name suggests, allow players to manage and expand their own intergalactic space program. The DLC will bring new campus locations, student archetypes, courses, classrooms, and more. Check out its announce trailer below.

Space Academy will launch for PlayStation and Xbox on December 6, and for Nintendo Switch on December 12. The DLC will cost $9.99.

In the two weeks since its release, Two Point Campus has already reached the 1 million players milestone, according to developer Two Point Studios.

Developer Two Point Studios has announced that its most recent release—Two Point Campus—has reached the 1 million players milestone in the two weeks since its release. This figure likely takes into account all the versions of the game, including PC as well as consoles.

Released in August, Two Point Campus made its debut with a second-place ranking in the week’s UK retail charts. The management sim saw 64 percent of its sales on Nintendo Switch and 19 percent on PS5.

Two Point Campus was released alongside a launch trailer that showed off the game’s incredibly goofy sense of humour. The trailer showed off some of the facilities that can be built in the game, including a cauldron for its Wizardry classes, and an obstacle course for spy training.

Two Point Campus is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. For more details, check out our review, where we gave it a favourable score of 8 out of 10, praising its writing and gameplay.
Two Point Studios' management sim made a big impact on release but Horizon Forbidden West continues to reign on top.

Gfk’s UK physical retail charts for the week ending August 13th are in (via GamesIndustry) and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West is still in first place. Thanks to its PS5 bundle, the open-world action RPG’s sales are up 35 percent over the previous week. However, second place belonged to a new title – Sega’s Two Point Campus.

The management sim from Two Point Studios, which is all about building and maintaining a university, saw 64 percent of its sales on Nintendo Switch, followed by 19 percent on PS5. It’s worth noting that digital sales will likely be higher, especially on PC, so combined sales could help it rise to the top.

There wasn’t much else in terms of new releases. After falling to tenth place the previous week, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has dropped to 15th place with sales down by 50 percent. Otherwise, the usual suspects like Nintendo Switch Sports, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Gran Turismo 7, Minecraft on Switch and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga remain in the top ten. Check out the rankings for the week below.

Title

This Week

Last Week

Horizon: Forbidden West

1

1

Two Point Campus

2

N/A

Nintendo Switch Sports

3

2

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

4

4

Gran Turismo 7

5

5

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

6

3

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

7

8

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

8

9

Minecraft (Nintendo Switch)

9

6

F1 22

10

7

Two Point Campus is a great new addition to the Two Point series, bringing a hilarious new setting, and a couple of new mechanics along the way.

Two Point Hospital, while a fantastic management sim in its own right, was enhanced a lot thanks to its sense of humour. The game was successful enough to get quite a few updates, including some insane DLC, and now, we have the studio taking on a similar concept, albeit with a brand-new setting. Enter Two Point Campus—a management sim where you have to build and maintain a university campus.

Depending on who you ask, it’s either awesome, or a bit of a shame that Two Point Campus doesn’t really stray too far from its predecessor’s formula. Despite taking place in a vastly different setting, Two Point Campus essentially shares the same DNA as Two Point Hospital, and in many ways, you can see that the developers have evolved and become more confident in the formula with the new game.

When considering the bare minimum that Two Point Campus has to do—offer up a compelling management game where, rather than feeling tedious, juggling priorities and putting out proverbial fires all over the place feels actually fun—the game manages it quite well.

"Despite taking place in a vastly different setting, Two Point Campus essentially shares the same DNA as Two Point Hospital, and in many ways, you can see that the developers have evolved and become more confident in the formula with the new game."

Two Point Campus has to be commended for its on-boarding experience for those new to the genre. Its tutorial does a phenomenal job of teaching you the ins and outs of running your own college, be it the basic stuff like how you go about hiring staff and building rooms for the various classes your university offers, up to more complex concepts like figuring out how to keep your students and staff happy, and how to schedule regular events to make use of the various buffs they offer.

All of this might sound like maybe Two Point Campus might lack a bit of depth, and while that might be true when compared to something like Dwarf Fortress, but make no mistake, Two Point Campus definitely has a fair amount of depth to it, especially in later levels where you have to start figuring out how to effectively manage your floorspace to offer courses on multiple subjects, rather than simply focusing on one or two classes.

It is worth noting that the personnel management aspect doesn’t quite go as deep as something you might see in a colony sim like Rimworld. That’s one aspect where Two Point Campus keeps things relatively simple. Hire a person to do a job, maybe train them to be able to do multiple jobs or do their original job even better, and fire them if they’re just not well-suited to your college. You don’t really get to dive into options like having rooms prioritize specific staff members, or even being able to set priorities for your staff members. The closest you can really get is the ability to pick them up and put them in another room.

There is also something to be said about just how much of an emphasis Two Point Campus places on aesthetics—something it shares with Two Point Hospital. You’re going to have to make your classrooms, staff rooms, dormitories, and even bathrooms look pretty. While this may not come up early on in your university’s life, it definitely becomes an important aspect to keep an eye on, especially as your university grows in size.

"There is also something to be said about just how much of an emphasis Two Point Campus places on aesthetics—something it shares with Two Point Hospital. You’re going to have to make your classrooms, staff rooms, dormitories, and even bathrooms look pretty. While this may not come up early on in your university’s life, it definitely becomes an important aspect to keep an eye on, especially as your university grows in size."

In fact, leveling up your rooms largely revolves around putting more things in them, and this includes something to spruce up the aesthetics, be it a poster on the wall of the dorm room, or a potted plant in the private tuition room. Aesthetics end up mattering quite a bit in Two Point Campus; students and professors don’t really want to hang out in ugly places, after all.

The big new feature of Two Point Campus—the ability to build outdoors rather than being confined to the insides of buildings—becomes rather easy to avoid in the main campaign. How it works is that at some point in your university’s life, you’re going to run out of room and want to expand by buying up a neighboring plot. Doing so allows you to either build your own new building in your new plot, or let the game do it for you. Sadly, Two Point Campus doesn’t do much to highlight the new build-it-yourself option the first time you see the screen, and it was only after spending several more hours in the game did I realize that this was an option.

Honestly, more than anything else, the writing of Two Point Campus sets it apart from just about anything else in the genre, apart from Two Point Hospital and classics like Sim Hospital, of course. Rather than teaching real subjects in your university, you’re going to be taking on students interested in learning how to pursue careers as clowns, secret agents, and wizards. Even the clubs you can set up for your students are insane, such as a speed-walker’s club.

In terms of visuals, Two Point Campus is essentially a nicer, sharper looking Two Point Hospital. Not much has changed in its art style, but rather, more of the silly details that Two Point Hospital prided itself on are visible in Two Point Campus. One of my favourite things to do is to just pick a staff member or student in one of my universities and follow them around, watching how they interact with this absurd excuse for an educational institute I’ve ended up building, and all the insanity that might arise when, for example, I kick off a party for the students in their lounge room.

"One of my favourite things to do is to just pick a staff member or student in one of my universities and follow them around, watching how they interact with this absurd excuse for an educational institute I’ve ended up building, and all the insanity that might arise when, for example, I kick off a party for the students in their lounge room."

Two Point Campus is a wonderful game, and while it may not go too deep into its simulation aspects, this helps it quite a bit in actually maintaining a level of accessibility that few other games in the genre can manage. This fact, along with the fact that Two Point Campus basically oozes charm and good humor from every angle possible, makes it a fantastic game to introduce new players to the genre. Its great tutorial helps a lot here too, slowly teaching players new mechanics, subjects, and aspects of college administration.

The biggest drawback of Two Point Campus is the fact that it doesn’t really do much new when compared to Two Point Hospital. In most aspects, this is a great thing, but, to put it another way, there isn’t really much new it’s bringing to the table. This ultimately means that those who already play Two Point Hospital might feel hard-pressed to leave it and its absurd amount of content behind for a new game. If you’re already a fan of Two Point Hospital, you better really like the new college setting, or it would be better off if you just waited for some DLC to drop before taking the plunge.

Two Point Campus is nonetheless a great game that stands on its own feet, and while it may not be doing much new, at least it isn’t overshadowed by its predecessor. If you’re looking for a charming way to basically see all your free time disappear, Two Point Campus is an easy game to recommend, even if you don’t have much in the way of experience with the management sim genre. It’s clever, it’s fun, and most importantly, it doesn’t get too complicated in all the wrong ways.

August is packed with all kinds of releases, from high-profile ports to long-awaited sequels and reboots. Here are 10 games that stand out.

The Fall season inches closer but there’s still plenty to look forward to in the months before, starting with August. Sequels, reboots and long-awaited ports await with something for everyone. Let’s take a look at 10 of the biggest games to play in August 2022.

Rollerdrome

OlliOlli World developer Roll7 is known for its chill skating experiences but Rollerdrome goes down a more violent route. Described as a “skating game where you’re not just skating” and a “shooting game where you’re not just shooting,” the story is set in 2030 where esports, social media, flat-screen displays and more have never been invented. Instead, the public gets its entertainment from Rollerdrome, a bloody arena sport where combatants skate and gun each other down. As Kara, players battle snipers, hooligans, armored foes, and even robots to make their mark.

The mechanics are fairly straightforward – shoot enemies to recover health, perform tricks to regenerate ammo. Each arena is a skate park with numerous possibilities, as one skillfully dodges attacks, slows down time for precise shots and chains combos together. Rollerdrome is out on August 16th for PS4, PS5 and PC. PlayStation Plus subscribers and PC players can get it at a reduced price for the first two weeks.

Two Point Campus

Two Point Studios brings its zany humor and management sim shenanigans into the world of education with Two Point Campus. Create your own university by placing various decorations, fences and vegetation, and then hire staff to teach your students. These aren’t your typical courses though as students will attend Knight School (with full medieval armor and jousting), take on Wizardry for magical duels and potion-crafting, or Spy School to root out any rival spies.

As you know more about the students and their personalities, you can organize different clubs and events to better foster their development. Two Point Campus is out on August 9th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Rumbleverse

Following its work on Seasons 2 and 3 of Killer Instinct on Xbox, Iron Galaxy Studios is back with a brand new melee-focused title in Rumbleverse, which releases August 11th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Unlike the combo-tastic 3D fighter though, this a free-to-play battle royale where 40 players are dumped into the map and must fight to the end. Close quarters brawls are the name of the game, as you unleash basic and strong attacks, and acquire magazines to learn more powerful special moves and takedowns.

Use weapons like baseball bats, climb anywhere and stay within the circle to ultimately emerge victorious. Along with a Battle Pass, it includes micro-transactions for different cosmetics to customize one’s avatar with. It may not feed the combo-breaker crowd but Rumbleverse looks intriguing, if nothing else.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, the critically-acclaimed, multi-million selling open-world title, finally comes to PC on August 13th. It features Peter Parker as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, having battled villains for years and protected Manhattan. Things take a turn though when Mister Negative and his gang start causing an uproar. Who else but Spider-Man to stop them?

As an enhanced version of Insomniac’s 2018 title, the remaster adds new suits, ray tracing and 4K resolution support. Ben Jordan also replaces John Bubniak as the face of Peter Parker. The PC version offers a number of options and features including higher-quality ray tracing, unlocked frame rates, Ultra-wide monitor support, mouse and keyboard controls, and Nvidia DLSS and DLAA support. If Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War (2018) are any indication, then Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered should be another PC hit for Sony.

Thymesia

Though it seems like just another Souls-like, OverBorder Studio’s Thymesia embodies a horror atmosphere with its plague-ridden setting. As a mysterious character named Corvus, players explore the fallen Kingdom of Hermes, battling infected creatures that roam the streets. Corvus is capable of fixing things (hopefully) but must rediscover lost memories to learn the truth. In the meantime, one must fight their way through, wielding plague weapons and using a raven form, complete with executions, to slay foes. Thymesia releases on August 18th for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Madden NFL 23

Another year, another slate of EA Sports titles, kicking off first with Madden NFL 23 on August 19th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Featuring John Madden as the cover star in honor of his passing last year, features like Face of the Franchise, Ultimate Team, and more return for another run. There are plenty of changes though, like Motivations and Tags that can influence Free Agent negotiations, the new Free Agency Hub, and new Scouting features for a more “efficient” process.

Current-gen versions also get FieldSENSE, which offers new control mechanics and branching animation technology for mid-air knockouts and Skill-Based Passing. It sounds all well and good but will this year’s edition finally carry the franchise forward? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Saints Row

Saints Row marks the first mainline title in the series since 2013’s Saints Row 4. However, instead of following the 3rd Street Saints and fighting aliens, Volition’s newest open-world epic is a reboot. Set in Santa Ileso, it sees The Boss starting out as a grunt for Marshall Defense Industries. Eventually, they work with Neenah and Kevin, disgruntled members of Los Panteros and The Idols, along with entrepreneur Eli to form their own gang.

Don’t let the whole “start-up company” approach fool you though – Saints Row still features plenty of chaos, from establishing businesses to front for illegal activities like heists to sandbox rampages. Customization is more in-depth than ever, starting with The Boss and extending to your fellow gang members, weapons, cars, and much more. With nine districts to explore, tons of side activities (including old favorites like Insurance Fraud), and drop-in/drop-out co-op, Saints Row looks to be a fun time. It releases on August 23rd for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia.

Soul Hackers 2

If you’ve been itching for some more Shin Megami Tensei-style gameplay, then Soul Hackers 2 should fill that void. Releasing on August 26th worldwide for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC, it’s set in the future where two factions of summoners are at war and civilization as a whole is on the decline. After predicting the end of the world, the mysterious Aion sends two agents – Ringo and Figue – to stop it.

Many elements of the franchise – like fusing demons and summoning them in battle – are still a thing here. But each character relies on COMPs with different effects, exploiting enemy weaknesses for Stacks, and then using these for massively damaging attacks. In between exploring dungeons and upgrading COMPs, players will also hangout with different party members, increasing their Soul Level to unlock new abilities.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed

Following up on the Destroy All Humans! remake from 2020, Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed is a remake of Pandemic Studios’ 2006 sequel. Crypto returns, blasting his way through a myriad of locations like Tunguska, Takoshima, Bay City and Solaris. Weapons like the Meteor Strike for calling down meteors and the Burrow Beast which summons an underground monster to consume enemies, are available. Or you could use the flying saucer’s Quantum Deconstructor and Anti-Gravfield to wreak destruction on entire cities.

Abduct humans to upgrade your skills or hop into local split-screen co-op and play through the entire story with a friend. Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed arrives on August 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

A proper management simulation for Formula One has been a long time coming but Frontier Developments’ F1 Manager 2022 could be the one. Based on the 2022 Formula One, Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships, it offers an extensive Career Mode with long-term goals and seasonal targets. As you build up your team, you’ll manage drivers, staff, finances and car design – emphasizing performance or a more balanced approach.

This is in addition to features like a strategy editor for scheduling pit stops and pace, regulation changes that can suddenly emerge, a realistic presentation, and commentators like David Croft, Martin Brundle, and Karun Chandhok. F1 Manager 2022 is out on August 30th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC.
