The Callisto Protocol Launch Trailer Sets up a Brutal, Horrific Adventure

Striking Distance Studios and Krafton's highly-anticipated sci-fi survival horror title is due out in December for PC and consoles.

The Callisto Protocol has turned a lot of eyes in the lead-up to its launch, having impressed with pretty much all of its showings, and with its release now roughly a couple of weeks ago, excitement surrounding the survival horror title is continuing to build. Ahead of its release, developer Striking Distance Studios and publisher Krafton have now released a launch trailer. Check it out below.

The Callisto Protocol is set on Jupiter’s dead moon, where, after a crash-landing, protagonist Jacob Lee is taken captive and thrown into a high-security prison. As if that weren’t bad enough, an outbreak of horrifying mutants has completely wrecked the prison, leaving very few people alive, while older secrets of an abandoned colony on the moon begin rising up as well. With focus on brutal action and a particular emphasis on horror and atmosphere, the game certainly seems to be shaping up very well.

Striking Distance Studios has said that The Callisto Protocol will be roughly 12-14 hours long, though thanks to its “beta paths”, the game will also encourage repeat playthroughs. Striking Distance Studios has also been releasing multi-episode behind-the-scenes docu-series that focuses on the different elements of the game’s approach to horror, such as brutality, atmosphere, and the feeling of helplessness.

The Callisto Protocol will launch on December 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, it will launch with 60 FPS performance mode.
