The Callisto Protocol seems to be shaping up to be an unmissable game for fans of the survival horror genre. In the lead-up to the game’s launch less than a month from now, developer Striking Distance Studios has kicked off a new behind-the-scenes docu-series that goes over some of the game’s core pillars. Its first episode last week focused on the game’s gore and brutality, and a new episode in the series has now been released as well, this time focusing on atmosphere and tension.

Striking Distance Studios has emphasized time and again that The Callisto Protocol is going to focus on horror first and foremost every step of the way, with everything from its AI to its sound design and much more working towards that end. In this new behind-the-scenes episode, members of the development team – and other well-known horror creators like Sean Cunningham, Robert Kirkman, Alex Gillis, and more – speak about the importance of atmosphere and tension in horror, and how those elements are built upon in The Callisto Protocol. Check it out below.

The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
