The Game Awards 2021 Will Have “Four or Five” Elden Ring-Level Reveals, Says Geoff Keighley

"There are probably four or five things of that level," says The Game Awards creator, producer, and host Geoff Keighley.

The Game Awards have been a place for major video game reveals and announcements on a pretty consistent basis, and it seems like this year’s ceremony is shaping up to be a jam-packed one as well. The show’s creator, producer, and host Geoff Keighley has previously said that there will be 40-50 games being featured in some capacity, many of which are going to be big surprises, and in recent interview with USA Today, he elaborated on that a little bit more.

Speaking about the Elden Ring reveal at Summer Game Fest 2021 earlier this year – which was also produced and hosted by Keighley – he said that at The Game Awards 2021, there will be “four or five” announcements that will be on the same level.

“I was very happy because the trailer was great,” Keighley said about the Elden Ring reveal. “It was a great asset, a highly anticipated game that really delivered. There were a lot of things that were good about that so yes, I was uniquely excited to be able to bring that to people. This year? Oh, God, there are probably four or five things of that level. I can’t wait to show people this stuff. Summer Game Fest was a new thing that I had created. The fact that FromSoftware bet on me and Summer Game Fest where they could have done more traditional E3 stuff, that meant a lot to me. It was a huge honor to work with the From guys, so stay tuned, there may be more coming.”

Information has started trickling in about some of the games that will be taking the stage at The Game Awards 2021 in a couple days’ time, on December 9. Steelrising and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will both be revealing new trailers, while Sonic the Hedgehog announcement – possibly for 2022’s Sonic Frontiers – is also being teased.

Reports have also claimed that we’ll be seeing more of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2while Keighley recently also said that one of the world premieres planned for the show has been in the works for two and half years.

One company that won’t have any involvement in the show is Activision Blizzard- read more on that through here.
