During its recent quarterly fiscal briefing, CD Projekt announced updated sales figures for its games. The Witcher 3, despite being a seven year-old game at this point, is continuing to post strong sales numbers. CD Projekt announced that the 2015 open world action RPG has sold over 40 million units worldwide as of April 14.
A couple of years ago, The Witcher 3’s sales numbers stood at 28 million units worldwide, which gives an idea of how consistently the game has managed to continue selling over long period. Meanwhile, The Witcher series as a whole has now sold over 65 million units worldwide, up from 50 million a couple of years ago.
CD Projekt also announced sales figures for Cyberpunk 2077, which currently stands at 18 million units sold worldwide.
The Polish developer recently also announced that The Witcher 3’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version, which was due out in Q2 of this year, has been delayed indefinitely, with development of the project moved in-house from Saber Interactive. A new mainline The Witcher game is currently also in development.
