Xbox Games Showcase Will be “Gen 9 Heavy, But Not the Entire Show” – Microsoft

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg sets expectations straight before today's showcase.

Microsoft’s latest Xbox showcase takes place today at 9 AM PT. Ever since the Inside Xbox event in May, all eyes have been on the company to deliver with its first-party studios. There’s expected to be quite a few Xbox Series X titles but that won’t be the entire show, according to Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg.

On Twitter, when asked if everything shown was indicative of the Xbox Series X instead of Xbox One X, Greenberg said the show was, “Gen 9 heavy, but not the entire show. That’s why we called it a Games Showcase versus just an Xbox Series X or Next-Gen showcase.” This lines up with a report that not only leaked the showcase’s date but indicated that third-party publishers would unveil content. Of course, you can also expect announcements for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition and Battletoads since both titles were recently rated by the Australian Classification Board.

Otherwise, in terms of first-party titles, Halo Infinite’s campaign gameplay will finally make its debut (with the recently revealed box art hinting at new grappling hook). The next Fable, reportedly in development at Playground Games, is also rumored to be revealed according to multiple sources. Unfortunately, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is reportedly not making an appearance.

Stay tuned for more details and live coverage when the event takes place tonight.
