A Sequel to Fallout: New Vegas is in “Very, Very Early Talks” at Microsoft, Journalist Claims

According to known industry insider Jeff Grubb, an Obsidian-developed sequel to Fallout: New Vegas is in the earliest stages of talks at Microsoft.

Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas is a game that’s loved by millions, and as such, it’s no surprise that fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since its release in 2010. Now though, journalist Jeff Grubb believes that a Fallout: New Vegas 2 might potentially be in the earliest stages of talks at Microsoft.

Speaking via Grubbsnax, Grubb claimed that Obsidian might be in the talking stages of developing a sequel to the classic RPG. He said that the game is far from confirmed at this point, although fans can be somewhat hopeful of seeing this discussions coming to fruition sometime in the future.

“This is very early, but people have begun to have talks and say these words in sentences, and those words are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘New Vegas 2’,” Grubb said (as transcribed by VGC).

Even if the discussions bear any fruit, the game would be years and years away from release. Developer Obsidian Entertainment is currently hard at work on two large projects – Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, so it seems highly unlikely that it would start working on another project just yet. Meanwhile, smaller projects like survival title Grounded and the rumoured RPG called Pentiment are also in the works.

“We’re talking years and years away,” Grubb said. “There’s at least an interest and conversations happening about making something like that actually a reality. A lot of people at Microsoft think that this could work and there’s a lot of interest to make it happen.”

As always, it needs to be reiterated that it’s all pure speculation at this point, so fans are advised to take this information with a grain of salt for now.
