Even with Control 2 and various spin-offs for the franchise in development, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 arguably commands more hype. Though it’s releasing for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC this year, very little gameplay has been showcased since its announcement at The Game Awards 2021.
If it’s any consolation, XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker heard that the game is “pretty far along” and will be a “true next-gen showcase.” Given that Epic Games is funding the project, making its PC version exclusive to Epic Games Store, it truly seems that the Fortnite money is “going a long way,” as Baker puts it.
Remedy Entertainment previously confirmed that Alan Wake 2 would be its biggest project yet, and thanks to the Northlight Engine, it’s “most beautiful” as well. The developer also revealed that it’s playable from start to finish, though that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s launching soon, given the polish required. Nevertheless, it assures that the survival horror title will be ready for launch this year.
