The Director says the mention shouldn't be taken as any kind of tease of a new title, and that he is largely done with games.

Over the last two years or so, there have been tons of rumors popping up about the revival of the legendary horror series, Silent Hill. The franchise, much like most owned by Konami, has been largely dormant as the company shifted its focus away from big budget games. The amount of rumors have been all over the place, from Kojima working with Sony for a new project, an unknown Japanese developer working on a project, and Bloober Team possibly working on a title after they announced a partnership with Konami. However, we’ve yet to see anything. Eyebrows raised once again when Director Guillermo del Toro mentioned the franchise at this year’s The Game Awards. Many saw it as a tease, but according to him, it was more of a jab at Konami than anything.

If you are unaware, there was a tech demo called P.T. that was developed by Kojima Productions before the split with Konami. The mysterious demo ended up being a teaser for a Kojima developed title in the franchise that would be called Silent Hills that would involve both del Toro and legendary horror manga writer/artist Junji Ito. However, that project never came to be and was canceled before reaching full development, with Ito never even submitting a single piece of work. del Toro has been vocal about his dislike of the move from Konami, and in a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he explained that the comment at the game awards was just another jab at Konami, and that he was not working on a new Silent Hill game, even going as far as to say that he didn’t see himself getting involved in game development in the future.

“It’s just one of those things in my life that makes no sense. I kind of just wanted to tickle the ribs of Konami, because I don’t understand. That was so perfect, what we were going to do was so enthralling.”

As it stands now, there are no official announced plans for the Silent Hill franchise, though it has shown up in various other titles in a variety of ways such as a recent Dead by Daylight chapter. Whether any of these rumors are true, only time will tell.

The pirate game has reached some huge success just on Valve's storefront alone.

Sea of Thieves is the latest game from developer Rare after a bumpy few years. The title originally launched in 2018 and was something of an experiment as it the first of Microsoft’s major first party titles to launch day and date on Xbox Game Pass, something that has become the norm in the near 4 years afterward. The game also made its way to PC, and then even eventually onto Steam, where it seems that it has found some pretty incredible success.

The developer announced via Twitter today that game has passed 5 million sales on Steam. Keep in mind this is only Valve’s storefront, these numbers do not include whatever the game has potentially sold on the Windows Store. It’s even more impressive when you consider that the game is on Xbox and PC Game Pass. As of October of this year, it was said the game had over 25 million players.

Sea of Thieves is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. To celebrate the milestone, those who play the game between December 22nd and the 29th will get the All Together Now! emote highlighted below for free.

The game's developer says they will monitor how the game does and gauge about DLC down the line.

Early next year, we will once again revisit the world of ELEX. The sequel will once again bring us to the sci-fi/fantasy hybrid world with a much bigger story and threat about to be unleashed. The first game was also filled to the brim with content, as is generally the style with RPGs, and it seems the second game will be similar. It also will have another thing similar to the first title, seemingly no post-launch content planned.

In an interview with Twinifinite, developer Piranha Bytes was asked about potential DLC for the game. There they gave a pretty solid answer, saying that they weren’t fans of DLC and prefer for people to feel as if the game they get when they buy the main game is fully content complete. As such, they said there is no paid content planned post-launch. However, they did leave the possibility open, saying they would monitor the its success and how fan’s responded for potential additional support.

“Actually, we don’t like DLCs. We think, if people buy our game, they should get everything that we’ve planned to put into it. Therefore there is no paid new content planned for ELEX 2 after the launch. Of course, we will closely watch how the game is being received by the audience and will support it. We would prefer to put our creative energy in another project very soon.”

ELEX 2 will launch on March 1st 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. We had our own interview with the developers about various elements of the game, which you can read in full through here.

The blast from the past will be getting some additional features sometime in the near future, the developer confirmed.

Those of a certain age almost certainly remember the Cruis’n series. It was a common staple in dedicated arcades and even bigger supermarkets or restaurants. This year, we got a blast from the past with the appropriately named Cruis’n Blast. The game originally released in 2017 for arcades, but raced onto the Switch with additional content. It did lack a few things, however, but it looks like the developer plans to remedy some of that.

As part of an AMA on Reddit, Raw Thrills’ Eugene Jarvis answered some questions from the community about the game. There he confirmed that online multiplayer would be coming and that it was their “next goal” as far as updates. On top of that, Jarvis also said that more content would be planned after they had the online nailed down. Unfortunately, there was no timeline given or specifics on what DLC would come after multiplayer.

Cruis’n Blast is available now on the Nintendo Switch.

Those who purchased the remastered collection on PC have several options of a free title from Rockstar's various franchises.

It seemed like nothing less than a slam dunk when it was announced that Rockstar would be bringing a remastered collection of the classic PS2-era Grand Theft Auto titles to modern platforms this year. However, as most are well aware at this point, it ended up being something of a disaster. The collection, titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, had a variety of huge technical issues across all platforms, even seeing it taken down on PC for a brief period. The game is now widely available once again, and those on PC will get a free gift for their troubles.

From now until the beginning of next month, if you purchased the game on PC, you can get a choice of free five games, with the options being Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Edition, Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition, Max Payne 3, LA Noire or Bully: Scholarship Edition. If you prefer, you can also get something for a game you already own with A Great White Shark Cash Card for GTA Online or 55 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online.

You will be able to redeem any of those seven items up until January 5th 2022. Keep in mind, this only for PC owners and via the Rockstar Launcher, where the collection exclusively launched.

The nostalgia-filled racer, which has sold over a million units, seems to have been quite successful, being Milestone's fastest-selling title ever.

While Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 5 sucked up much of the air this year in the racing category, there was another smaller title that came somewhat out of nowhere with Hot Wheels Unleashed. The game saw you live out your fantasies of racing all your little Hot Wheels to your heart’s content. It seems the game also struck a cord as it looks to be a pretty successful affair.

Today developer Milestone announced via a press release that the game had topped 1 million sales across both physical and digital releases. It marks also the fastest-selling title in Milestone’s history, which includes other racing series such as Ride and MotoGP. While giving no specifics about the future, the company also signaled that more content and support would be coming well into 2022.

Hot Wheels Unleashed is available now across all major platforms. We were fans of the game even with some minor issues, and you can read our full review through here.

Ernie Hudson seems to collaborate some earlier rumblings that a new game is being developed.

The Ghostbusters franchise seems to be back in a big way with this summer’s release of the newest film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The series has been dormant for a good while, especially so in the video game space. The last time we saw it in the gaming world was Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, a re-release of the 2009 title that reunited the original cast for a new story. Now it seems the time is coming once again to be busting in gaming form.

Actor Ernie Hudson, who plays Winston Zeddemore in the films, confirmed in a panel at a fan convention that there is a new game in the works. He said they are in the process of doing scheduling for recording, saying that he and Dan Aykroyd will be involved, though was unsure if Bill Murray would be. He didn’t give much details about the project or who was making it, saying that he didn’t know when it would be out. You can see part 1 of the panel where Hudson speaks about the game below.

While there has been nothing official as of yet about this game, as broken down by the Ghostbusters News YouTube channel, which you can also see below, earlier this year Illfonic’s Raphael Saadiq mentioned the company was working on a Ghostbusters game in an music-based podcast. Illfonic worked on Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds, pointing to a potential multiplayer title.

Considering how little we know about this game, it’s hard to say when it’ll come out, but either way, it seems the Ghostbusters are going to stage a grand comeback in another medium at some point in the relative near future.

The martial arts themed action title will come out in February digitally, but those wanting a physical copy can get one with some patience.

2021 is almost over and now is the time to peer into 2022, and already the beginning of the year is looking pretty strong. One title that will be there, even earlier than expected, is the martial arts combat game Sifu. The game sees you playing a character out for vengeance in brutal combat, where you can die and come back as an older and wiser version of yourself. The game promises that it will require multiple runs to unearth all of its secrets, and will release in February digitally. It seems there will also be a physical release, but you’ll need some extra patience.

As announced today via developer SloClap and publisher Microids, the game will come to actual shelves with a physical release for both PS5 and PS4. The game is also slated to come to PC, though only the console versions are mentioned in the announcement video, which you can see below. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a specific date as of yet, only a timeframe. If you want the option, however, it looks like it will be available if you can wait.

Sifu will launch digitally on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 8th 2022 with a physical PS5 and PS4 release set for Spring of the same year. For our hands-on impression of the fighter with 15 thing you will want to know, take a look through here.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi talks more in-depth about the PS5 version of the game and its unique features such as haptic feedback, resolution, and more.

It’s been a very long wait for Gran Turismo 7, but we are finally getting the game in the early months of 2022. We’ve seen a good deal of the game, as well as its expected tie-ins from premium car brands. The game, as most know, is cross-gen and will launch across both the PS4 and PS5. While the experience will most likely be fine across both platforms, we have seen some details about the PS5 version will be slightly different. Now, we get a little more.

In a new Behind the Scenes video, series creator and producer Kazunori Yamauchi gave more details about what the PS5 version will bring to the table. As you can see below, he talks about the role of haptic feedbacks, the resolution boost, and the ability to have better framerates and ray-tracing. The talk is also interlaced with various footage of the game.

Gran Turismo 7 will release on March 4th 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The classes show how you can tackle the fantasy-themed spin-off in a variety of ways, whether through magic or with very big hammers.

One of the games that will help kick off 2022 will be Borderlands, but with something of a twist. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be a fantasy-themed spinoff, based largely off the Assault on Dragon Keep DLC, which is available now as a standalone purchase. The new title will see the familiar look and humor of Borderlands in this fantasy setting, but with more RPG like focuses. For instance, the game will have classes, and today we got a look at two of them.

A new video, which you can see below, introduces two of those classes, Spellshot and Clawbring. Much like the name imples, Spellbreaker is a more magic-based class that uses magical projectiles as well as other more unusual modes of attack, such as transforming monsters into smaller and less threatening animals. The Clawbring goes mostly in the other direction as it wields a massive hammer that you can pound enemies with and use as a projectile that boomerangs back to you.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is slated to release on March 25th for most major platforms. You can get a look at the games story and returning characters from previous games through here.
