Destiny 2 Dataminers Admit Claims About Potential Subscription Service Were a Joke

After rumours of Destiny 2 potentially getting a subscription service, the dataminers responsible have admitted that it was all a joke.

The Destiny 2 dataminers that claimed that the game “possible code” that would lead to it having a subscription plan has revealed that the claim was completely made up as a joke. The dataminers, Elliott and Bruders, have since posted an apology for the joke.

“Was gonna just let this keep going on, but since it grew really large and people are actually worried outside of the server we just wanted to formally apologize and admit that we trolled everyone,” stated Elliott in the apology. “This will probably make a lot of people angry, but it was all meant to be done non maliciously.”

The dataminers have also promised to properly label posts that are meant to be jokes rather than real reports from datamining Destiny 2 in the future. They have also revealed that the game doesn’t really allow for datamining much outside of whatever season might be currently ongoing.

Destiny 2 is currently in the midst of its final season for The Witch Queen. Titled Season of the Seraph, the current season revolves around the story of the Warmind Rasputin, and will likely lead into the story of Destiny 2‘s next expansion, Lightfall.
