Playground Games’ Fable hasn’t received too many updates since its announcement in June 2020. There have been plenty of reports about it facing issues such as “internal politics over engine use,” though rumors of it being “unplayable” are apparently untrue. The last major update was seen on producer Vijay Gill’s LinkedIn profile, where he suggested the game is in playable state.
In the meantime, narrative lead Anna Megill recently tweeted about how she “Cannot wait to show you all the wonderful stuff we’ve created.” Known for her work on Control and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Megill is celebrating her second anniversary at Playground Games and has been “busy busy busy” since joining. Lest you think this is a tease for an upcoming reveal, Megill has clarified that there’s no “hidden meaning.” “All I’m saying is I’ve worked here 2 years and I’m still happy. That’s it.”
Fable is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Microsoft hasn’t indicated a release window, or even if we’ll see it this year, so sit tight for more details. Playground Games has been keeping busy with other things, like the next expansion for Forza Horizon 5.
