Hogwarts Legacy Launch Trailer Promises a Magical Adventure

Avalanche Software's highly-anticipated open world action RPG launches for current-gen consoles and PC on February 10.

After delays and a development cycle marred by controversy, Hogwarts Legacy is finally approaching its release, and with its launch now right around the corner, WB Games has released a launch trailer that offers glimpses of what the open world action RPG will have in store for fans.

Hogwarts Legacy will see players stepping into the shoes of a witch or wizard who enrolls in the famous school as a fifth-year student. Set a hundred years before the events of the Harry Potter books, its story revolves around an ancient magical secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart, a budding goblin revolution, and more.

The open world itself will encompass not only all of Hogwarts Castle, but also the area surrounding it, Hogsmeade Village, and more. Players will be able to traverse the exteriors by flying around on broomstick– though Quidditch, unfortunately, will not be playable in the game. Within the Castle itself, fans can expect to visit number of familiar locations, such as the Common Rooms of all four Houses, the Room of Requirement, and more (but not the Chamber of Secrets).

Beyond that, players will attend classes and engage in side quests that affect the main story– which, incidentally, is allegedly going to be roughly 35 hours long. The game does not, however, feature morality system, which means you can use the Unforgiveable Curses without any material consequences.

Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, on April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, and on July 25 for the Nintendo Switch, with reviews reportedly set to go live on February 6. On PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game will feature both 30 FPS and 60 FPS modes. If you’re planning on playing on PC, check out its system requirements through here.
