Returnal Confirmed for PC at The Game Awards

Sony has confirmed at The Game Awards that Returnal is coming to PC. The port is due out sometime in early 2023.

During The Game Awards, Sony has announced that Returnal is coming to PC. Shown off with a short trailer, the PC version of Returnal doesn’t yet have a specific release date aside from an early 2023 window.

A PC release for Returnal has been in the works for a while. Earlier, hints of Returnal coming to PC became more evident thanks to a SteamDB listing for the game under the codename “Oregon”.

Back in September, a PC version of Returnal was spotted in video that was taken down by Sony shortly afterwards. It was also spotted during a GDC presentation by developer Housemarque with one of the slides showing off a screenshot of the game with debug text indicating that it was running on a PC.

Returnal is a fast-paced shooter with roguelike elements that revolve around protagonist Selene exploring a strange alien planet. The game features quick action influenced by Housemarque’s experience in making bullet hell games.

Sony has had quite a busy year with releasing games on PC, having released Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
