According to insider Midori, Persona 6 began development in 2019 alongside Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica. Its color theme is “green”, though how the plot reflects this remains to be seen. For reference, Persona 5’s color palette is red, while Persona 4 is yellow, and Persona 3 is blue.

Though Atlus has yet to announce the title, it’s rumored to have a semi-open world with more fluid (and less restrictive) Social Links. Persona 6 is allegedly coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and even the Nintendo Switch 2 (which is also yet to be officially announced). Stay tuned for a potential reveal in the coming months.

Despite initially rumored as a potential PS5 exclusive, Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker has previously reported it’s also coming to Xbox on day one. NateTheHate recently reported hearing the same on Spawncast’s Direct Xbox podcast, though he wasn’t 100 percent sure if it’s day and date with the PlayStation version.

Atlus’ recent release cadence would suggest such, but more surprising is Midori confirming the information and revealing that Persona 6 is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The “multiple platforms” part could also indicate a PC release.

It wouldn’t be the most surprising development, especially since Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3: Reload are also rumored for the Switch 2. Time will tell, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.

On ResetEra, known leaker Head on the Block – who was previously known as Im a Hero Too – has claimed that though Persona 6 is going to continue building on the series’ formula with another high school setting, it will be expanding on it by adopting a semi-open world structure.

In another post, the leaker claimed that the game would also feature “more fluid” Social Links- which, for those not familiar with Persona, are bonds that players form and strengthen with a variety of characters throughout the experience for both narrative and gameplay bonuses. The leaker claims that Persona 6’s Social Links will be more interactive and will have fewer timed restrictions placed on them than in previous games.

Leaks have previously claimed that Persona 6 is currently targeting a 2025 launch, and that it will be a multiplatform release, as most recent Atlus titles have been. Given the fact that parent company Sega is expecting the game to sell 5 million copies in its first year, it’s fair to say a multiplatform release is very much on the table.

Meanwhile, from datamining leaks to teases in the game itself, there have also been several recent indications of upcoming DLC for Persona 3 Reload that will add Persona 3 FES’ The Answer.

In a recent Q&A with investors, Sega said it believes that a new numbered entry in the Persona series could even sell as much as 5 million units in its first year, which would be made possible by a multiplatform and simultaneous global release.

“By increasing the number of platforms it is available on and the regions it is released in, we have been increasing the sales of Persona 5,” the company said (translation via Persona Central). “We believe that it would be possible for a major Persona title, such as a numbered release, to sell 5 million copies in its first year by releasing it on multiple platforms and simultaneously worldwide from day one.”

The company also added that it has “high expectations” from Atlus’ upcoming Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is being developed by a new team led by former creative leads for the Persona series. Atlus has previously said it’s positioning the upcoming RPG as “a third pillar” for the company alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei.

Though there have been conflicting reports over recent months about whether Persona 6 will or won’t be exclusive to PlayStation as past major Persona releases have been in the past, this quote would certainly suggest that it won’t be.

Of course, the Persona series has enjoyed healthy sales as it is in recent years – for instance, earlier this year, it was confirmed that Persona 5 and its spinoffs had collectively sold over 9 million units – though it wouldn’t be surprising to see a growth in sales for the series once it does start getting multiplatform, simultaneous global releases for its mainline titles.

While it remains to be seen how long it’ll be before the next mainline Persona game releases, series fans do still have plenty to look forward to, with Persona 5 Tactica out imminently, and Persona 3 Reload launching in February. Unlike past entries in the series, both games are launching worldwide simultaneously as multiplatform titles, so it should be interesting to see how they perform from a commercial perspective.

This is according to leaker Im A Hero Too, noted for revealing the name of Persona 3 Reload before its official announcement. In a new tweet, they reaffirmed that Metaphor: ReFantazio is launching in 2024 alongside “Asa” (a rumored Persona party game featuring characters from all five titles). Persona 5X, which reimagines the RPG for mobile devices, is also coming with other regions to receive playtests.

Finally, Persona 6 is reportedly launching in 2025, with a reveal time “still being decided.” Not much is known about the sequel, though other rumors claim it will launch on day one for Xbox. It also seems that a new Shin Megami Tensei title is in the works. Stay tuned for more details and potential announcements in the coming months.

That’s according to XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker, who recently said in an episode of the XboxEra Podcast that based on the information he’s received, Persona 6 won’t be an exclusive, and will also be available on Xbox consoles at launch.

The last year or so has, of course, seen the Persona series finally expanding beyond PlayStation platforms with its mainline instalments, with Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal all having come to additional platforms, so Persona 6 coming to Xbox at launch doesn’t entirely come as a surprise. Whether or not it will also be available on Game Pass at launch the way the aforementioned games have been remains to be seen- Baker says he hasn’t heard anything to that effect for now, for what it’s worth.

Meanwhile, Persona 5 Tactica is due out on November 17 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, while Persona 3 Reload will launch early 2024 for all those platforms except the Switch.

The reveal is reportedly at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th, with Xbox and PlayStation as its platforms. They also claim it’s a full remake but not “definitive” (which could mean some cut content). Other rumored titles like Persona 5 T and Persona 6 are also allegedly being announced this year.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson verified separately that the Persona 3 remake is in the works but “hasn’t been able to pinpoint when the game will be revealed.” Much of this information lines up with what other insiders like NateTheHate have claimed, and Atlus itself has also hyped “exciting happenings” for July 3rd at Anime Expo 2023 (even teasing that, “By the time you’re reading this, the cat is out of the bag”).

Time will tell, but a domain reportedly linked to the remake has seen some activity lately. Stay tuned in the meantime for more details.

According to insider NateTheHate, it might not be terribly far away. Speaking during a recent episode of his podcast, the insider claimed that Persona 6 is set to launch in late 2024, and that it’s likely to be exclusive to PS5, which isn’t something we’re hearing for the first time. Unlike Persona 5, which launched as a cross-gen title for both PS3 and PS4, Persona 6 will allegedly be skipping PS4. However, NateTheHate does say that there’s a chance that Persona 6 does end up coming to Xbox consoles some time after launch.

And when exactly will it be unveiled? According to the insider, the game was originally set to be announced late last year, but since its launch was still a ways off at the time, Atlus decided to delay its unveiling. He speculates that the game is likely to be unveiled later this year, potentially at Tokyo Game Show in September. So if you were hoping for an announcement at the imminent PlayStation Showcase, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen.

Earlier this year, it was claimed that a reveal for the RPG was planned for this Summer.

Meanwhile, NateTheHate has also claimed that a remake of Persona 3 is due out later this year and will be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase. Read more on that through here.

As per ResetEra user Im A Hero Too – who has previously leaked information related to Persona and has been vetted by ResetEra moderators – both Persona 6 and a Persona 3 remake are in development at Atlus, with both allegedly “pretty far along” in development. In fact, it seems both games are targeting a Summer reveal, with the leaker also claiming that both games were supposed to have been revealed already, if Atlus hadn’t internally changed those plans.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first we’ve heard of a Persona 3 remake, with previous leaks also have claimed that the project is in the works. As per Im A Hero Too, the remake has “so many updates” that it may as well be “a new game for many”.

Meanwhile, where Persona 6 is concerned, the leaker says that, in spite of recent multiplatform Persona releases, it could still end up being a PlayStation exclusive (which has been claimed in previous leaks as well)- though it seems like there isn’t complete clarity on that particular front, so there’s no guarantees.

Of course, as is the case with any such leak, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now- though if Atlus does indeed planning on revealing the two games this Summer, it shouldn’t be long before more details emerged. Stay tuned for all of those updates.

In an update published on the official Persona website, Atlus confirmed that it has “no plans to announce new game title” at the upcoming live concert. That may come as a disappointing surprise to many. In addition to the fact that, as previously mentioned, Persona concerts have seen major announcements in the past, many had also assumed that the event would set the stage for Atlus to conclude its year-long 25th anniversary celebrations for the franchise, which are supposed to end with a new announcement in Autumn of this year.

Persona 6 is confirmed to be in development, even though it hasn’t yet been formally unveiled, while rumours have also claimed that a Persona 5 spinoff starring Goro Akechi is in the works. Where and when Atlus will choose to announce its upcoming projects remains to be seen, but disappointingly enough, it seems the developer won’t be doing that at the upcoming concert.
