Headlining the list is last year’s critically acclaimed title Baldur’s Gate 3. Following the epic RPG is a good mix of major releases as well as smaller indie games. The second most-played game, for instance, was Vampire Survivors, which was followed by Dave the Diver. Palworld, meanwhile, comes in at 6. The top 10 spots on the list also feature AAA releases like Hogwarts Legacy at 4, Elden Ring at 5, Cyberpunk 2077 at 7, Grand Theft Auto 5 at 8, and Red Dead Redemption 2 at 10.

The overall list is quite interesting, since it doesn’t just include the Steam Deck Verified games that have Valve’s approval for being playable on the Steam Deck with full optimisations. For example, Fallout 4 and Forza Horizon 5 are both present on the list, despite only being marked as Playable on the Steam Deck.

The list also features a healthy mix of genres, ranging from survival crafting titles like Terraria and Valheim, to co-op shooters like the recently-released Helldivers 2, to large-scale story-based action games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Metal Devil – Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West

The Chariot-class Horus Titan, better known as the Metal Devil in the New World, is unmatched in its destructive power. After all, it was a single swarm that resulted in the Faro Plague and once put an end to humanity. In Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, they’re inactive but not completely out of the picture. While reactivating one could result in another apocalypse-level event, it would still be kind of cool to fight, maybe in a VR scenario of sorts.

Shadow Warrior 3

The one where Wang gets a grappling hook. Shadow Warrior 3 does away with its predecessor’s wide array of melee weapons and focuses on one single constant – the Dragontail katana. Being able to quickly whip it out and slice an opponent feels more intuitive, and each slash feels more responsive. Upgrades also allow for directional inputs to call down lightning, shoot fire or unleash a wave of water which is also nice.

Furthermore, it could either release this year or slip into next year. Either way, more details should be expected before June (which is usually when E3 takes place). While Respawn has never officially acknowledged the sequel’s development, it had sought a producer to work on a new Star Wars title last year. A bevy of job listings would then go live in July for a “brand new single player adventure” that had begun development.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia. It’s had over 20 million players since July 2021. Check out our official review here.

Along with multiple platforms, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so it’s possible that a decent chunk of players came from those services. Nevertheless, it managed to sell over eight million units within a few months of release, surpassing EA’s expectations in the process. With the current-gen versions now available, its sales could increase even further.

Speaking of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade, the developer also acknowledged reports of it showing up incorrectly as paid for some players. It’s currently working on a fix and asks fans to sit tight. For more details on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, check out our review here.

After rumors that it would launch today, Respawn Entertainment’s free Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrade for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is now live. Current owners of the game on Xbox One and PS4 respectively can upgrade for free, though how it improves on the last title update remains to be seen. One thing is for sure – you’ll need to download about 54 GB on PS5 and 50.2 GB on Xbox Series X/S for the update.

In January, Respawn released an update that provides an improved post-processing resolution for Xbox Series X and PS5 players along with 60 FPS gameplay. This allowed for 60 FPS with a dynamic resolution that ranged from 1080p to 1440p. A mode for post-processing at 4K on Xbox Series X with dynamic resolution ranging from 1512p to 2160p (while the PS5 remained static at 1200p) were also added.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Google Stadia. A sequel is reportedly in development, which makes sense given how the original sold over 10 million copies by March 2020. The source for the rumor is a UK video game retailer, who claims that stores have already received physical copies of the game on PS5 and “have been told by the head office that there will be an “announcement and release” on June 11, this Friday.” If it’s true, this wouldn’t be the first time retailers have leaked a release date.

Before this, the only thing anyone knew about the PS5 version of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen order was that the game existed and would release sometime this summer. Users who already own the PS4 version will not need to buy the upgrade, as they’ll get it for free. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order originally released in 2019 and we liked it quite a bit when we reviewed it.

It’s Star Wars Day next week (May the 4th be with you), so StarWars.com has revealed some of the events, sales, and giveaways coming to LucasFilm Games’ catalog to celebrate. It’s pretty typical stuff, with one exception: the announcement that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime this summer.

No definite release date was given, which is a little odd given that summer is right around the corner. The post did say that the new version will feature several “technical improvements,” though again, no concrete details were given. Upgrading to the new version will be free to any one who already owns the game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was one of the best games on 2019, so a free update to a better version is pretty great for anyone who has yet to experience it or is thinking about a replay. If you’re looking to pick up a copy, you can get up to 70% off the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game on Xbox One, PS4, Steam, and Origin until May 12th.

The NPD Group has released its February 2020 report (via VentureBeat) on video game spending in the United States. Due to the lack of major new releases, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would top the charts, followed by NBA 2K20 and Grand Theft Auto 5. Total dollar sales for video game software amounted to $307 million, a 36 percent drop compared to last year.

Though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the best-selling game of the month and the best-selling game for the 12 month period ending February 2020, another title dominates sales for this year. It’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot which topped January 2020 charts and is currently in fourth place for February. The Division 2 followed in fifth place thanks to its massive price drop in preparation for Warlords of New York.

The only new release for the month was Yakuza Remastered Collection which released physically for PS4 and debuted at 33rd place. Expect March to be significantly better thanks to releases like DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nioh 2, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released at the end of last year, it really had felt like it’d been a long time ago in a galaxy far away that we’d gotten that last good single player focused take on the iconic franchise. Thankfully, Fallen Order stuck the landing pretty well and ended up being a solid game. It did, however, suffer from some nagging technical issues that detracted a bit from the final product. It seems the developers see that, too.

In an interview with USGamer, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella and Fallen Order creative director Stig Asmussen both acknowledged the game could have done with a little extra time in development. They even say if they had had that little extra time, the game could have been even better, but the pressures to get the title out by the Holiday season prevailed.

“Yeah, it was a conversation that we had and we decided that we wanted the game out there, we wanted to get it, you know, being out for the holiday. It’s a game that really fits that timeframe,” Zampella said.

“I think we’re in a situation [where] we’re trying to build a game for several different systems and we wanted to hit a date, obviously,” Asmusses said. “We all look at it, and earnestly we feel like we could, if we had a little bit more time, it would’ve been better. But at the same time, we could play through it. It was good and we felt like fans were going to like it.”

Ultimately, the game seems to have been a massive success despite those technical problems, and the studio is also hiring for another Star Wars project, with good odds of it being a Fallen Order sequel. In the end, it’s just nice to have single player Star Wars back, when it’s all said and done.
