Ubisoft+ will now have two more tiers of subscription, dubbed Ubisoft+ Premium ($17.99 per month) and Ubisoft+ Classics on PC ($7.99 per month). The premium tier will allow subscribers to play new Ubisoft games on day one of releases, as well as early access releases. The service also gives players access to premium additions and monthly awards.

Ubisoft+ Classics on PC, on the other hand, is more focused on the history of the company, and will offers players the ability to play a curated catalogue of classic Ubisoft titles as well as live service games.

Ubisoft’s director of subscription, Philippe Tremblay, explains the difference between the two new subscription plans in the announcement.

“Premium means day one access to new releases and in some cases, like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, early access to upcoming new releases,” he explains. “This is on top of our extensive back catalog, where you’ll have access to premium editions, DLC, and monthly rewards.”

Ubisoft+ Classics will feature games like Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs: Legion, as well as live service titles like Rainbow Six Siege. The catalogue is slated to grow over time, and will be included as part of PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium for console players.

It is worth noting that current subscribers to Ubisoft+ PC Access won’t see any changes to their subscription, and their services and monthly price will remain the same. Interestingly, Ubisoft also has an agreement with Activision Blizzard to bring its games to the service via the cloud down the line.

“The games will land on Ubisoft+, while also allowing Ubisoft to license them to cloud gaming companies, service providers, and console makers,” said the company. If you have Ubisoft+ Multi Access, these titles are playable on PC, Xbox consoles, Amazon Luna and PlayStation (via Ubisoft+ Classics).

Over the past 15 years, we’ve built and honed our online services and distribution ecosystem into one of the most complete in the industry. Today’s deal gives players even more opportunities to access and enjoy some of the biggest brands in gaming.”

More details on the addition of Activision Blizzard’s titles to Ubisoft+, along with “other cloud gaming platforms,” will be provided later. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

As for the deal’s status, Microsoft has sent its final submission to the Consumer Markets Authority in the UK, which had previously blocked the acquisition. The latter was set to deliver its verdict on August 29th, but both parties were granted two months to resolve any issues.

Chris Early, Ubisoft’s senior VP of strategic partnerships and business development, told Xbox Wire, “Partnering with Xbox to launch Ubisoft+ Multi Access on Xbox consoles enhances our subscription offering to provide more value and choice to our players. Xbox console players now have access to our worlds through Ubisoft’s extensive game library.”

In terms of selection, there’s over 60 games available. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Watch Dogs: Legion, Far Cry 6 and more are playable via their special editions, providing access to different DLC. The one exception seems to be Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 because if you’re going to pay for anything, it’s to return to Manhattan.

That’s as per @ScriptLeaksR6 on Twitter, who has often accurately leaked Ubisoft-related information in the past (including the existence of Assassin’s Creed Mirage prior to its announcement). In a recent tweet, the leaker claimed that Ubisoft+ will launch for Xbox consoles in “mid-April”. Interestingly, the service’s logo was discovered in the Xbox Store backend as far back as August last year, suggesting that its launch for Microsoft’s platform has been in the works for some time.

Of course, if Ubisoft+ is indeed coming to Xbox in the next couple of weeks as this latest leak claims, one would assume that an official announcement for the same will be made in the near future. Whether the service ends up getting packaged with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate the way EA Play is remains to be seen.

Interestingly, @ScriptLeaksR6 has recently also leaked pre-order information on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, in addition to a gameplay screenshot for the first person open world title.

The expansion sees Dani Rojas teaming with the alien Fai to traverse various rifts to recover shards to repair the latter’s ship. There are 15 rifts to explore, and each offers a fractured version of Yara with various Shardfaces that must be defeated. They also have unique challenges, weapons and branching paths to explore.

Completing the story mission grants some powerful gear for use in the main game, so it’s worth checking out. Check out the first 15 minutes of the expansion here. The first 15 minutes have been showcased by IGN, providing a look at some of the rifts. The first is a floating series of walkways with various barriers blocked by keys, alien tech, etc. There are puzzles to solve and enemies, known as Shardfaces, to fight. The latter requires matching ammo to their color to defeat them.

The next rift has toxic swamps with invisible foes that can suddenly appear in front of you. Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds is available today standalone, with the Upgrade Pass or the new Game of the Year Edition for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Amazon Luna. The world has reset, so you’ll need to grind through missions, uncover the map, and complete operations again. For those who are struggling with full completion, the new Completionist Aid feature should help. It tracks progress for each region’s activities, from collectibles to percentage completion.

Various quality-of-life features like Ammo Swap for quickly changing ammo types, Loadout Slots for instantly changing loadouts on the fly, and new Amigo interactions have also been added. A free trial is also live, allowing players to experience all Isle Santuario missions for free and carry over their progress into the full game.

The story sees Dani Rojas encountering (and shooting) a mysterious entity called Fai, trapping both in a strange multiversal junction. As a result, she must traverse alternate dimensions called Rifts and retrieve pieces for Fai, though it seems to have an ulterior motive. New crystal-like enemies called Shardfaces abound, and it seems players will need to alternate between red and blue firing modes on new weapons to kill them.

Each level also promises “multiple player paths,” which should offer some replay value. There are 15 Rifts in total, ranging from a floating fortress to Esperanza underwater. Collecting energy fragments allows for retrying a Rift if you fail. But complete them and you’ll receive some powerful gear that can be used in the main game.

Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds launches for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. It’s also available on day one on Ubisoft+. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

The trial is only for new subscribers, though. Among some of the titles are Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, The Division 2, Rainbow Six Siege Extraction, Riders Republic, and much more. Ubisoft+ costs $14.99 per month on PC and Google Stadia, with new Ubisoft titles launching on day one for subscribers. Some titles called Ubisoft+ Classics are also available with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.

The announcement could be made at Gamescom Opening Night Live tomorrow but there are several questions. Will it be added to Game Pass? If not, what’s the plan for Ubisoft titles that are already on Xbox’s subscription service? Is it launching for PlayStation consoles as well, or do PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members only get the Ubisoft+ Classics till the end of 2022?

Time will tell so stay tuned for more details. Gamescom Opening Night Live airs at 11 AM PST tomorrow and features more than 30 games with a run-time of two hours. Confirmed titles include Sonic Frontiers, The Outlast Trials, Gotham Knights, The Expanse: A Telltale Series and much more with Dead Island 2 rumored to be re-revealed.
