Ubisoft confirmed previously that the upcoming turn-based tactics Nintendo Switch exclusive Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope would be one of several games to be showcased at its September Ubisoft Forward showcase, and sure enough, the game kicked off the show with an extended new gameplay preview.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will see Mario and company traveling to a multitude of planets, and this new gameplay showcase highlights the planet of Terra Flora. The planet has been struck by drought, and Mario and his companions have to travel to the top of a volcano to put that right.

The video touches on exploration, but primarily focuses on a boss fight that sees the heroes traveling on a train while a massive Wriggler chases and attacks them. Several characters are shown in action, including Mario, Bowser, Rabbid Rosaline, and more, with their unique abilities, enemy types, environmental elements, and the boss fight’s mechanics are also shown off.

Check out the preview below. Meanwhile, Ubisoft also briefly detailed its post-launch plans for the game, including Rayman joining as a playable character in the third expansion. Read more on that through here.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is due out on October 20 for the Nintendo Switch.
