The Last of Us Part 2 Release Date To Be Announced In November State of Play – Rumour

The Naughty Dog title is supposedly in line for a May 2020 launch.

Take this with a massive grain of salt, but there’s been a new leak over at 4chan (via NeoGAF) that seems to contain some possibly momentous details about The Last of Us Part 2 and its release date announcement. Apparently, Sony will be holding a new State of Play stream in November this year, which will contain some major updates for two of their biggest exclusive releases.

The stream will show a launch trailer for Death Strandingwhich is due out on November 8 (so the stream happens before its release). This will be followed by an update for EA’s upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. But the star attraction of the show, it seems, is going to be Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated The Last of Us Part 2, which will apparently also receive a trailer- which, allegedly, will announce the game’s release date. And that release date? May 2020.

The leak also mentions specifically that Ghost of Tsushima won’t be part of this stream, and is being saved for another event later on in 2020. The open world title’s development is supposedly coming along nicely, but has hit a few delays as Sucker Punch tries to bring textures and frame rates up to snuff, while also optimizing the game for next-gen hardware.

As I mentioned earlier, do not put too much stock in this rumour just yet. 4chan hasn’t always been known as the most reliable source in the past, while this also wouldn’t be the first time that we received rumours related to The Last of Us 2’s release date getting announced at State of Play- which then turned out not to happen. Then there’s the fact that we’re only in August yet, which seems a bit too early for Sony to have finalized plans for a November State of Play. It’s also worth noting that there have been multiple reports that have said the game will be out in February 2020, not May.

The timing would fit, though. A launch trailer for Death Stranding’s release and a trailer for Fallen Order before its own November launch both make sense, while it would also stand to reason that with Death Stranding nearly out the gate by that time, Sony would then be looking to shift their marketing focus on the next big PS4 exclusive.

Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way.
