Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming role-playing video game that is under development at Warhorse Studios. The game will be released across multiple platforms including the Xbox One. Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been primarily developed for the PC so all other versions will be ports.

Warhorse Studios’ Creative Director Daniel Vávra has shared the first information about the Xbox One version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. He revealed that within the first 3 weeks they were able to get the game running on the Xbox One at 17 frames per second. He tweeted an image from the Xbox One version which can be seen below:

He also clarified that it will turn out even better once they start optimizing it. “Its gonna be much faster after we get rid of our own mess. This is a very good start,” he tweeted. Since the game does not have a definite release date, it will obviously get better. Here’s hoping for a locked 30 frames per second experience. He also stated that it’s kind of miracle given his past experience work with consoles. “We just started. Judging from my past experience of console ports, its a miracle :),” he said.

For clarification purpose, he also stated that he is not a platform warrior. “I am not a platform warrior at all. Currently playing Far Cry 4 on TV from my high end PC with Xbox controller,” he tweeted.

We have an upcoming interview with Warhorse Studios where we will hopefully learn more about the console versions.

That’s incredibly impressive. It used to take months working on a port just to get it to boot without crashing and if they were lucky it would run at a few frames per second. Of course modern consoles are just PC’s with direct access to hardware instead of running through drivers so its somewhat expected at this point

    • Psionicinversion

when windows and xbox are both running DX12 it will be even easier for devs to port between the 2 platforms

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

so that’d mean little to no optimization would be needed, assuming DX12 on PC and Xbox One are updated concurrently and not the former outpacing the other to the point that more work is laid out regardless of an easier work environment, if that makes sense?

    • Psionicinversion

on the consoles would still need optimisations for the CPU and the ddr3+esram combo and stuff but yeah the way the game works with the driver for both systems should be pretty much the same. X1 will need more work but yeah should be alot easier

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Sounds good. Wonder how this will affect PS4 when it comes to multiplatform games

    • Psionicinversion

it wont it will still be the same as now, if sonys opengl is very similar to how it processes stuff like dx12 will do then it will be easier to port for that to

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

then there would be virtually no difference between them right?

    • Psionicinversion

I think its still different enough to not change anything in terms of time to port to ps4 because its 2 different API’s even though both may share a similar way of doing things the coding behind it may be quite different. Dunno I’m not a game dev or anything but could start to make the PC a more attractive place to game. Maybe MS long term plan is to get out of the console market when something like aPC can replace xbox in terms of plug and play ability but who knows what there long term goal is

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

I doubt it a lot of p touch screen people still spend money on Xbox Live so they wouldn’t want to ditch the Xbox brand yet or even next generation I’d say at least 15 years down the line and they’ll consider but not at this moment since 48 million is a lot and I don’t think they’d want to ditch that many customers and you know be left with PC since with their future riding on Windows 10 right now they wouldn’t want to take a chance just yet. So instead I think they may try to merge Xbox and PC brand instead of only having one in existence if that makes sense I guess like how the Xbox will become even more closer to a PClike you said. There are still some differences between ps4 and Xbox one but at this point to developers the difference will be almost non-existent and for PC it seems thatit may actually be the one influencing them now instead of vice versa and I have a PC but it’s not exactly high end I’d say it’s at least low to mid settings but that’s it since it only has GT and not GTX GeForce so I’ll check I guess with my local store to see what kind of upgrade I can add what I do know is my RAM can only go up to 16 gigabytes so I won’t be able to do much with that what do you think? I have a Lenovo edge 15 2 in 1 full hd. But smoothness of video is considerably low compared to my 120 HZ with my laptop going up to 60. Plan to get desktop in at least a couple years and use laptop for now for gaming and college.

    • Psionicinversion

PC, xbox and WP will all be moving to windows 10 and I think there going to be fully unifying there store, not sure if a developer will allow say purchase a game like COD that gives you a license to run it on xbox and PC may take a while for that to happen but think that’s what they want to move towards.

16GB is more than enough 8 is fine for the moment all depends on the CPU and GPU really but yeah 2 years time there’s going be some beast hardware around. I’ll be fully upgrading mine in 2 years going full 4K goodness putting aside about£2500 for it

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah that’s right guessing that’ll mean sharing your balance across all accounts on the different platforms too. That would be nice ; tedious to be buying the same game for a different console when you can just transfer. CPU is 4th generation Intel Core i7. And GPS DDR3L. I’ll be going for desktop at least two years after I save money also. Hope my monitor is 4K AND 3D. So what platform should I get my games from: Steam or GOG, and what games should I start with?

    • Psionicinversion

Yeah you’ll need a better GPU in there for sure. I’m not 3D gaming watching cinema in 3D isn’t exactly brilliant plus you’d need to be pushing like 120fps I think and 4k you’ll need like 3 GPU’s. I’m going get occulus rift for it instead I think will be far better than 3D

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah gotta see which GTX is the cheapest but efficient to start with. I like gaming in 3D and watching also so 3D is a must for me. Yeah I’ll work on that any he starring with a lower resolution monitor and the working up to 4K. Be awhile before I even get any kind of VR. Give or take 4-5 years and then I’ll go for it.

    • Psionicinversion

It’s alot easier to game with VR than 3D I think doesn’t take as much power todo it. How do you game on 3D now?

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

I actually haven’t tested it out yet to see how it works. I have no games installed for me to test the 3D or if I need any more software than what it came with to use it. I’ve seen the 3D option in the Intel graphics options but haven’t tested it

    • Psionicinversion

Does your monitor support 3D? if its NVIDIA 3D you’ll need a pair of stereoscopic 3D glasses to

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

No I couldn’t find where it tells me that but this is all I found related to 3D. I can also bring up the Display and system specs under the dxdiag if needed.

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Hey I found this, but unsure if it’s enabled already?

    • Psionicinversion

seems like you can but i know the nvidia 3D one active 3D so you need a pair of glasses for it. not sure if any active glasses will do or you need the nvidia ones but youll have to find out. it will impossible to game on 3D with your GPU though the framerate will not be high and you may get quite sick from it. youll also need a game that supports 3D to

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah but I’m used to 3D as I have a 3DS xl. Also I’m downloading this software called Daz 3D wonder what I’ll be able to do with it.

    • Psionicinversion

ah right yeah PC 3D gaming is a completely different animal. You need active 3D glasses and then youll need beast GPU’s to run the game without throwing up everywhere.

Dont think it does passive 3D tbh. you might be able to watch 3D films passively but no games support it i dont think.

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Ah I see. How can I found what GPU my computer is expandable to maybe the store I got it or have to go online to look that up? ok I’ll look into that.

    • Psionicinversion

looking at it at bestbuy i dont think it has got a 3D display. think the options just show up even if your display doesnt support it but i highly doubt youll get a gpu powerful enough to run it anyway inside that laptop

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Oh. Yeah not sure if I can find one to even fit inside a laptop in the first place.

    • Psionicinversion

yeah youll just have to game on 3DS for 3D haha. or wait a cpl years for desktop

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah and also plan to get new 3DS that’s coming next year. Once I get a desktop that’s where I’ll do all of my PC gaming. Which distribution platform should I go with for my games and which has the easiest transfer method for going from one computer to another?

    • Psionicinversion

i usually go for steam for digital where possible, EA games are on origin, Ubisoft games are on Uplay and steam, but even if you get ubis stuff on steam uplay is still required.

If you want totally DRM free go for GOG.com for witcher 3.

all of them are easy just requires downloading/reinstalling all your stuff again

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

I have to do digital for now until I get an external CD/DVD drive since my laptop doesn’t include one. How does Valve apply DRM to Steam? Yeah I was thinking that or GOG. Perhaps it can’t hurt to have both?

    • Psionicinversion

it doesnt its just a delivery platform i think its pretty good i can download at 19MB/s off steam (max’s my connection out :d) can download 40GB in like 40-45minutes so faster than going to the shop in most cases because when you get home have to install off DVD which takes ages. GOG is cdprojekts site and think steam takes 30% of all sales so maybe best buy it off gog so cdprojekt get all the money

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

So the process for transferring content from one computer to another isn’t that complicated? Yeah my Internet isn’t that fast haha but it’s not too bad. Yeah get it off GOG CD Projekt RED earned it 🙂

    • Psionicinversion

nah just install steam log in and download your stuff thats it

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Ok because I already downloaded and installed it but haven’t made an account yet

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

And I can’t wait to get Half Life finally!

    • Psionicinversion

oooo you missed out. Steam sale on black friday weekend had every Half life game dlc and counter strike maybe even team fortress to i think for £18 instead of £75. Snooze you lose :d

Think liek even with the witcher when you install it you can import it into steam and i think steam saves all your game saves to there cloud which is useful. Not sure if it works for absolutely everything but i think it does anyway. might be wrong

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah I know I saw the sale. Ok I’ll keep that in mind.

    • Michael Norris

My Pc is fairly good FX8350 4.8ghz OC Cooler master 212evo,GTX970 16 GB 1866MHZ of ram 256GB SSD.DX12/Mantle will be awesome for AMD CPU’s

    • Psionicinversion

no it wont be awesome for AMD GPU’s, game engines still rely on single core performance which is where AMD CPU’s are failing at. Which is why the Zen is supposed to be a hyperthreading CPU, its a rumour but well find out in 1-1.5 years

    • BAD ADSc

      Waste of money.

    • Psionicinversion

maybe to you but basking in that 4K star citizen goodness while the peasant boxes struggle to run 1080p will be glorious

    • BAD ADSc

Sorry but 4k or anything gaming wise should not cost you that much,
Peasant boxes ha, people are just not stupid to spend that much just for gaming. .
1080p aint all that and I bet 4k aint either..

    • Psionicinversion

HD to 4K is like going from SD to HD and if the game has the textures to support 4k properly and not just added in an extra render option it will look GLORIOUS that’s where star citizen is going to own.

It’s quite good you don’t think 1080p is all that because h your consoles barely run it at that if it all haha next gen sub 1080p. Any game that’s truly demanding sub 1080p!!

    • BAD ADSc

Ha I don’t care what ya think of consoles, but at the end off the day all major titles are made on consoles, not pc..
id rather usr a console it does not cost me that sort of money just to game..
and Ive seen star citizen, still not worth that money.

    • Psionicinversion

      SC be worth every penny

    • BAD ADSc

Ya heads screwed on backwards. .
no game in the world will make me spend that sort of money..
funny how ya call consoles peasant boxes, consoles are what keeps gaming alive, it certainly ain’t pc keeping it alive..
its how developers make there money because they are so wide spread. .

    • Michael Norris

This gen the API’s for both consoles are about the same.Sony already has a DX11 like program for Ps4.Development this gen will be very easy for both consoles.

    • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Yeah the OpenGL. Question is which one will max out first if both are that optimized?

    • d0x360

At this point the only games that should be difficult to port, provided they were developed for PC first is anything that uses nvidia game works but since its mostly indies who port from PC to console and they don’t generally use stuff like gameworks it should be fairly easy.

Now…I shall wait for red barrels to finish outlast 2 and hopefully release everywhere all at once. Loved that game so much and wanted to support the developer i bought it on PC but I also bought the game and dlc for both ps4 and x1.

    • Psionicinversion

gameworks is implemented near the end i think and are PC only features that consoles wont have. They could run some of the stuff technically but its reserved for the PC. alot of the gameworks stuff will add to the GPU load that the consoles will be maxing out on anyway becuase the game requires far more power at max settings than the consoles have

    • d0x360

Game works is nvidia specific features for graphical and physical effects so its implemented fairly early. It only exists to destroy performance on ati GPUs.

Ati makes all their stuff open source like tressfx for example. Nvidia keeps it all closed and bundles it into game works. The latest addition I believe is their new method for rendering physics enabled grass more efficiently.

Ati cards can reproduce the same end result but they have to use brute force to get there and developers have to custom code their own method which is unfortunate because most won’t and will leave simpler grass in place.

Damn you nvidia! Stand on the legs of your hardware don’t block competition and punish consumers. Game works is why a significant number of new releases have run absolutely terribly on ati hardware. They have all these tricks and optimizations that only work on nvidia hardware. They could work on ati hardware too but nvidia is greedy and won’t share their advances in techniques with the industry.

That would be like Microsoft creating direct x but then only letting Crytek use its advanced features and everyone else is left to fend for themselves.

    • Psionicinversion

Well alot of the newer game works stuff runs on opencl I think so used compute power to do it which is why they’ve fixed there lack luster compute performance in the Maxwell cards. Of course they could choose to make it run like trash on AMD GPUS but more and more of there stuff relies on the physx processor less I think but having physics running through dedicated hardware is probably better than AMD running it through there gpu anyway

    • Michael Norris

Ehhhhhhhh…really dude? realllllly? DX12 won’t be the holy grail you think it will be.The fact is MS will keep on improving those crappy Cpu cores throughout the life span of the console.Sony will also do this, the only way these console can really put out performance is GpGPU which Ps4 will get nearly twice the gains of Xone.

    • Psionicinversion

What are you about? I said it will be easier to port between the 2 not that it’ll make the xbox 10x more powerful you tool. I personally want the consoles to die it’s never going happen, easier porting might mean there’s more time for optimisation on the PC platform

    • Clate

This is true, that is the good thing about how the PS4/One/PC are similar in architecture. It makes ports easier and everyone benefits

  • oSHINSAo

I think MS is pushing developers to create one game for 2 platforms PC & Xbox, kill two birds with one stone, because if im a developers i would always prefer to program less and earn more.

    • #Windows10

    • oSHINSAo

Thats a very interesting graph Sir… so, Microsoft is developing tools to develop apps/games for all of them, while, hope not to start a war, Sony programers has to develop one for TVs, one for PSP, one for PS… the advantage here is for MS because they have the install base of Windows PC

    • Exactly. Same goes for Apple’s iPhone/Pad/Mac/ect… Obviously there are differences between each platform, but they’re designed to work together incredibly well. It only makes sense that Microsoft do the same.

Honestly I think MS would have done this a while ago had the X360 been able to support such massive integration. But even then, products weren’t quite so “connected” in 2003-2005 when the X360 was conceived. That, and porting across Windows XP/Vista/7/8 would’ve been a monster…

Hopefully the forward-thinking that MS has given to the XO will benefit it in this manner. I know there was a DX12 test earlier this year that allowed Forza 5 to become playable on PC after only 3 days of porting. Not sure the details of that one, so consider it hearsay. 🙂

    • Michael Norris

Eh Sony will have tools for developers to handle DX12ish development.

    • oSHINSAo

Yes, when Sony releases the code of their development tools, microsoft will do too, they use another API
