Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is almost here, and though the game has gotten rave reviews ahead of its launch, there has been a very real fear that players have had- that the side missions in the game will unfavorably intrude upon the story experience that players after all play the Metal Gear games for.

Speaking to GamingBolt, Konami’s community manager Robert Allen Peeler assured us that players would have to worry about no such thing, although he also pointed out that players should not try to avoid the side missions regardless. “You can finish most of the main game without touching a side mission, but not sure why anyone would want to avoid them. Some of the best moments in the game come from challenging and rewarding side ops,” he added.

However it’s important to note that the keyword here is most but regardless you should invest your time in side ops since they are extremely rewarding and will help you earn GMP which in turn will make producing weaponry and items easy. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC on September 1.
