While we don’t yet have a great feel about just what the Nintendo NX is going to be, we are getting a feeling for what Nintendo is at least thinking about bringing to the new console. Nintendo has filed a new patent for a detachable “computing device.” There is an awful lot of legal jargon, mainly because the company wants to be as vague as possible in case the firm decides to change things up while still staying under the patent.

When you boil it all down this particular patent is talking about a removable and attachable device that would actually increase processing resources of a game or utilize cloud support. The possibilities seem to be pretty interesting when talking about being able to help run a game faster, or run a whole second game. That second game thing could be especially interesting considering the PS4 and Xbox One both have the ability to put a game on hold, but in order to start another game, the one they suspended has to be closed. Perhaps this device would allow Nintendo NX users to actually start another game while leaving the other game suspended.

Other implications for the computing device could bridge games between two different consoles, local (maybe even a home console) and remote (a handheld console?) Finally, there’s a chance that someone could possibly stream games.  There are a number of things that could make the console really interesting. We’ll just have to stay tuned and see what Nintendo has in store for the NX.
