10. Sonic the Hedgehog:
This water level may honestly be the worst that have ever been created. They manage to break the fast-paced continuity of the games, and devolve to a “swim for your life” scenario where you’re simply moving from one group of randomly placed bubbles of air to another.
It’s almost like these levels were created to separate folks who are gluttons for punishment from your average gamer who is just looking to have a good time. These levels are so frustratingly backwards compared to the rest of the game that someone should go back in time and stop them from ever existing, no matter the cost.
Final Thoughts:
Water levels seem to be the bane of just about every gamer’s existence. While there are a few that are alright, or are entertaining, most of them are this terribly designed cacophony of mechanics that simply do not blend well with some of the games they’ve been implemented in.
This can even be seen in games like GTA: Vice City. I mean, who in their right mind moves to a city that is basically at sea-level and surrounded by mostly water but can’t swim? On the bright side we’ve already seen some of the worst possible water levels in gaming at this point so it can only go up from there, right? It”s not like they are all bad by any means, these water levels just seem to standout so much more.
