5. Guilin - Shenmue 2
Both Shenmue games featured worlds that, whilst pretty big, focused more on depth and interest than sheer size. Even then, each town was broken down into multiple districts and sections for easier navigation. That was, right up until then end of the second instalment when you travel through Guilin with the mysterious Shanghua. Though each part of the journey was broken by loading screens, it seemed to go on for an age, and the journey never really ended on account of the game ending on a cliff-hanger halfway through the level; a cliff-hanger that has yet to be resolved. That, and those cut scenes were long. Hideo Kojima long, almost.
