SUPER STAR WARS (SNES)

One of the greatest games ever made based on a movie, Super Star Wars was a re-enacting of A New Hope on the Super Nintendo. It featured some high octane run and gun gameplay, with additional stages allowing you to drive a landspeeder or pilot an X-Wing. It also helped that it was a generally competent platformer, and that it told a bizarre take on the Star Wars story (hands up if you remember the time that Luke had to fight his way through the Jawas to rescue C-3PO and R2D2, instead of simply buying them. No? Well, that’s what the game says anyway). It was great fun, and the storytelling was surprisingly high quality too.

You can check out the game today if you own a PS4 or a PS Vita- it was re-released for those on PSN last month.
