STAR WARS JEDI KNIGHT: DARK FORCES II (PC)
There was a time, very long ago, when LucasArts was incredibly talented, and would put out a Star Wars game for every type of popular game in the market- Star Fox? Give us Rogue Squadron. Baldur’s Gate? Knights of the Old Republic. Battlefield 1942? Star Wars Battlefront. Age of Empires? Star Wars Battlegrounds.
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was LucasArts’ first person shooter, their attempt to deliver a product in a genre that was the hottest thing at the time, thanks to games like Quake, Half Life, Goldeneye, Doom, and Duke Nukem. With surprisingly great (for the time) 3D graphics, a LAN multiplayer mode, multiple objectives spread throughout each level, sort of like Goldeneye, and the ability to use not just Star Wars guns, but on occasion, also lightsabers and the Force, it was, at the time, the dream game- a classic of the shooter genre.
If you want to play it, and see what first person shooters used to be like, it’s available on Steam. Go download it, it’s a great blast from the past.
