DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN 2
The eighth console generation saw the CRPG genre making a veritable comeback, but even among a large crowd of excellent new additions to the genre, Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin 2 stands out as a titan among CRPGs. Choice and consequence is a tricky thing to nail down in games – most games only ever manage to drum up an illusion of choice at best – but Original Sin 2 proudly boasts of meaningful choices and unpredictable consequences as one of its biggest strengths. And that’s just one of countless strengths- excellent characters, sharp and witty writing, deep roleplaying mechanics that encourage actual build diversity, engaging and tactical combat, oodles of lore to dive into. The list goes on. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is not only a highlight of the eighth console generation, it is also one of the best CRPGs ever made.
