With Hideo Kojima having started his own studio, and work on a brand new game project as well, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is now officially old news. In this feature, we list 20 such things that you may not have known of before- 20 things in The Phantom Pain that show us the extreme amount of detail that went into the game and demonstrate, once and for all, why there is no one else in this industry quite like Hideo Kojima.

D-Dog Misses Snake

In one of the fuzziest, most adorable, most heart warming secrets in The Phantom Pain, your canine companion D-Dog comes to miss you if you spend too much time apart from him- and he lets you know it. If you are away from the Mother Base for too long (basically, a few days in game), or have not played the game in a while, when you return to the Mother Base, D-Dog bounds up to you joyfully, licking you all over, his tail wagging excitedly, excited and happy to see you return. If you’ve had a dog, you know how it goes. It’s all sorts of awwwwwwwww.
