Red Dead Redemption
Having guided do-gooder cowboy John Marston through the trials and tribulations of Red Dead Redemption’s lengthy campaign, it strikes a chord somewhat when you see him get gunned down so brutally. This isn’t exactly an odd occurrence in the shooter genre though, even when it does happen to your main character. What really made this particular event stand out was the fact that you get to play Marston’s son as he goes to seek revenge on his father’s killer.
The Darkness
Here’s a fun fact for you all. The only thing worse than killing yourself, is trying to kill yourself only to find that the evil demonic powers possessing you have prevented it. After witnessing the tragic murder of his girlfriend, the recently possessed Jackie Estacado decides it’s all too much. Yet, whenever he tries to take his life, the Darkness brings him back time and time again. It might not count as a death as such, but the mature narrative of the Darkness helped such an emotional plot device remain firmly embedded in your mind.
