No more gimmicks
Most of the features that Assassin’s Creed: Revelations introduced didn’t work very well. Sure, the hookblade was a great addition, but it didn’t add much to the gameplay other than from an aesthetic viewpoint, and the other additions, like den defence and the first person platforming sections, were downright horrible. Let’s just hope Assassin’s Creed 3 sticks to the basics and does what an AC game is supposed to do.
Heavily upgraded engine
The engine really started showing its age in Revelations, but by the looks of it, that’s not going to be a problem in AC3. The footage we’ve seen so far looks stunning, and it looks like Ubisoft have reworked the engine. They have announced that they’re using a highly upgraded version of the Anvil engine that was used in the previous instalments, and we honestly cannot wait to see it in action.
Back to Templars vs Assassins
Technically, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Revelations were about the fight between the Templars and the Assassins, but it got shifted to focus more on the Borgias or the Byzantines. It was a nice change of pace, but it wasn’t typical Assassin’s Creed. We want the absolutely fantastic war between the two factions that was shown in the first two games to come back, because that was what basically made the story so unique and interesting.
