Not all games show their entire hand right off the bat. The majority of well remembered titles stay in the minds of gamers on account of a particular twist or surprise; an ace up their sleeve if you will. Whether it’s a level you never expected or a really crazy plot twist, here are nine shocking surprises in games that have kept us on our toes. This list is likely to contain spoilers.
1. Time Travel
So there I am, young and in love with RPGs, casually starting up Ocarina of Time. Pretty good game I thought in my innocence, as I fumbled around Hyrule Field as kid Link. So I clear the three dungeons, access the sacred realm and then... wait, what the!? Such a memorable plot twist that opens up a lot more Zelda goodness. The sheer shock of that moment was enough to cement Ocarina of Time as one of my all time favourites.
