Hot on the heels of announcements that Gamestop had run out of its Playstation 4 allocation, and that Best Buy had run out of its Xbox One allocation, Amazon has decided to join the party by confirming that it has run out of its allocations for both, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
As VideoGamer reports, Amazon updated its Facebook page to notify customers about the matter. “After a crazy and exciting month, we’ve sold through our initial allocations of PS4 and Xbox One,” the notice states. “Thank you to all who have ordered and shared your opinions. We have the Standard Editions for both consoles still available, but we can’t guarantee these at release. Please check back here as we’ll update you first if we receive further release day allocations.”
With retailers running out of pre-order allocations for both the upcoming consoles left and right, perhaps we will see the hardware market rejuvenated; we have not seen a successful game hardware launch since the 3DS launched, back in 2011. Both the subsequent launches- Playstation Vita and Wii U- failed to make any noticeable effect at retail.
