Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is the series’ next mainline instalment, but we also know what’s next after the Japan-set game. Alongside Red, in 2022, Ubisoft also announced Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, a game that, as per reports, is set in Central Europe and focuses on the witch trials during the 16th century. Now, new potential details on the title have emerged courtesy of a report published by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson.

As per Henderson, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe will be a marked departure for Ubisoft’s franchise. It will allegedly be largely a linear experience, with some open world elements included, which aligns with what little has been confirmed of the game so far. In 2022, Assassin’s Creed’s vice president executive producer confirmed that Hexe wouldn’t be an RPG, and would be a smaller-scale experience than previous entries in the franchise.

Previously, Henderson has also claimed that Hexe’s protagonist will be a witch with supernatural powers named Elsa. In his new report, he has detailed some of those abilities, describing a section of the game where Else is being hunted by German soldiers in a “dark and gloomy” city. Elsa possesses a nearby cat through the use of a spell, and as the cat, knocks over a bottle to distract a guard, allowing her to sneak past him.

On top of that, Hexe will allegedly also feature a Fear mechanic similar to the one in the Jack the Ripper DLC for 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Specific details on how this system will be implemented are unknown.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe is allegedly targeting a 2026 release and supposedly still in the “relatively early” stages of development.
