The verdict is in, and this year’s Call of Duty is a bit of a damp squib- a step down from the recovery path that the series had started on with 2014’s Advanced Warfare and last year’s Black Ops 3. But no matter what, there will be millions of players playing the game regardless- and if you find the prospect of going up against all of them daunting, then you are at the right place.
This guide to Call of Duty will walk you through everything in Infinite Warfare. From leveling up and gaining XP quickly to a guide to classes and perks, from a guide to earning salvage quickly to multiplayer tips and tricks, from a guide to equipment to locations for equipment upgrades, weapon scans, death letters, and armory locations, to all the Achievements and Trophies in the game, this guide covers it all. Let’s get started, then.
LEVELING UP AND GAINING XP QUICKLY
Your level is central to your progress in multiplayer in Call of Duty, and you level up by gaining XP. So you want to try and level up as quickly as possible- the videos below suggest some tips for doing just that. None of them suggest anything illegal, or anything that might compromise the integrity of the game- just some general tips and suggestions that should help you maximize your XP gain from each game that you play.
CLASSES
Infinite Warfare has six classes, known as Rigs. Each Rig has three Payloads and three traits that need to be picked before combat- collectively, you can have over 50 different configurations, ensuring that no two players on the field are going to be alike.
The six Rigs in Infinite Warfare are:
- Warfighter
- FTL
- Merc
- Phantom
- Stryker
- Synaptic
PERKS
Perks are the signature mechanic of Call of Duty multiplayer- arguably the reason that the series took off with Modern Warfare back in 2007 at all. Perks are there to help counter other perks, equipment, and can even counter scorestreaks. A guide to the Perks in Infinite Warfare follows:
GHOST: Makes you invisible to UAV and radar pings
OVERCLOCK: Payload charges faster
TAC RESIST: Makes you more immune to flash and stun
HARDINE: Lets you gain bonus points for each kill up to 8 kills. 2 Assists give you the same bonus
MOMENTUM: Lets you run progressively faster. Jumping, sliding, and wall running reset your momentum
RECON: Larger area appears on minimap- a single radar sweep when a standard enemy UAV appears and another when it dies is made available
BLIND EYE: Undetectable by air and ground AI detection systems
BLAST SHIELD: Increases your resistance to explosion damage
DEXTERITY Lets you switch and reload weapons faster
TRACKER: See recent enemy trails, including cloaked enemy trails
COLD BLOODED: Invisible to thermal detection systems
SCAVENGER: Resupplies ammo from dead players
GUNG HO: Lets you shoot, use equipment and scorestreaks while sprinting
MARKSMAN: Lets you acquire enemy names from increased distance. Reduced flinch, so your usage of sniper weapons and all other weapons benefits
ENGINEER: Lets you detect enemy equipment and scorestreaks through walls. You can also plant bombs stealthily in bomb objective modes
DEAD SILENCE: Silences your footsteps and jump packs
PINPOINT: Outlines enemies when you are attacking or taking damage
HARDWIRED: Immune to EMP. Also blocks you from being outlined by enemies
EARNING SALVAGE QUICKLY
If you want to earn salvage quickly, you’re in the right place- the two videos below share some tips and tricks to earn salvage quickly and maximize your yield.
EQUIPMENT GUIDE
There’s a lot of equipment to find in Infinite Warfare– offensive, defensive, tactical, you name it. The equipment you find and how you choose to utilize it could legitimately change the course of a game. The video below walks you through the new equipment in the game.
MULTIPLAYER TIPS AND TRICKS
Call of Duty is generally an easy game to get into- the skill ceiling is pretty high, but the barriers to entry are low or non existent. A few games can be enough to get the feel of things and start doing well- but if you want some starting primers and tips, so you don’t go in completely blind and make a fool of yourself as a result, we got you. Here’s some general suggestions for you that will always come in handy:
Learn the perks. We said it before, we’ll say it again- perks are the central mechanic in Call of Duty, and the entire game is built around them. Learn the perks, understand what they do, when best to use them, and how they might be countered. Understanding perks can mean the difference between victory and crushing defeat.
Always keep moving. If you stay in one place, you’re an easy target. No matter what, keep moving- move from cover to cover, move from vantage point to vantage point if you’re a sniper, and if you get hit, move as quickly as you can so you don’t get shot again and die as a result.
Experiment! There’s loads of different rig loadouts, and you have over 50 combinations to try out. If you aren’t doing too well at the moment, try a different loadout- something might just click.
