Check Out DriveClub’s Dynamic Weather System In Action

'The idea is to make it immersive.'

A lot has been made of DriveClub and its fabled dynamic weather system in the last few weeks and months, but this is perhaps the first and best look that we have gotten at it in action so far. The direct feed footage that you see above shows off the game’s ‘fully realistic and customizable’ dynamic weather system; however, Evolution Studios also confirmed that the weather system will not ship with the game, that it will be made available to players as a free update after launch. Which is honestly a bit of a bummer- remember the good old days when games would ship with all essential features included as part of the package?

“It’s all about the detail,” said Evolution Studios, “the dampening surfaces, moisture absorption, changing material appearances, lighting in the sky, and so on. It’s amazing to see this come together; to see little details like rain forming puddles that can hold water, then dry out or get bigger depending on the terrain topology and changes to the temperature. To be able to make a break-thru like this is what makes the new PlayStation 4 hardware so exciting.”

DriveCLub launches for the PS4 this October. Stay tuned.
