One of the main ideas that is highlighted when talking about Detroit: Become Human is the concept of player choice. We have already seen in the past how the game will have multiple branching storylines. Now, in a new IGN First video, the developers discuss this idea of player choice and just how extensive the possibilities are in Quantic Dream’s new game.

The developers note how there are “entire scenes that you can see or miss” and how”there are characters that can be with you for just one scene or accompany you until the very end of the game. The developers also go on to discuss why player choice is important for the game’s narrative. They state that it helps players share the stories and struggles of the characters on a more personal level since players get to make these choices and then have to live with the consequences.

Players will also have to make choices carefully as all three characters can die at different points in the game’s story. The developers promise that each player’s experience of the game is bound to be unique. To learn more about how player choice works in the game, you can watch the video below. Detroit: Become Human will release exclusively for the PS4 on May 25.
