Story

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is set a short period of time after the events of Diablo III following a brief period of peace. With the defeat of Diablo finally being achieved, a mysterious object called the Black Soulstone is recovered by Tyrael. The strange artifact houses inside itself the fundamental essences of the seven Great Evils which still pose a credible threat. With this knowledge in hand, Tyrael and six Horadrim take the Black Soulstone to Sanctuary where they attempt to hide it away from the prying hands of both the mortals, hoping it will never be found.

They however are unsuccessful in this, the group is set upon by Malthael. Malthael was last seen after his disappearance following the events that led to the Worldstone being destroyed twenty years prior. With Tyrael incapacitated and his party of Haradrim all but annihilated, Mathael is free to take the Black Soulstone putting his plan into action.

Having regained consciousness, Tyrael dispatches the last surviving member of his Horardrim party to find the Nephalem (you, the player) that destroyed Diablo. After locating the players character, your journey will lead you to the land known as the Kingdom of Westmarch which is currently under siege.
