EA: “We see a strong future for social gaming”

"People are exaggerating the decline [of social gaming]"

EA Labels president Peter Moore believes “doom-mongers” and “naysayers” are exaggerating the fall of social gaming. he believes the future is bright for social games.

Obviously, this was ahead of Zynga’s announcement that they’ve reported a major loss in the past 9 months.

“We have watched how social gaming really caught everyone’s imagination and it was the lead story for the industry for a while, and it may have got over-hyped,” Peter Moore said while speaking with CVG.

“Expectations may have ran ahead of what was realistic,” he continued. “But on the downside, people are exaggerating the decline. I think the naysayers and the doom mongers are over-exaggerating. We see a strong future for social gaming. It’s going to evolve, it’s on platforms that are clearly moving towards mobile very quickly.”

Who knows, he may have a point. True, Zynga may have suffered a pretty heavy blow over the past few months, but we never know what the future might hold.

What’s your take on this?
