While the biggest push back against the Epic Games Store is the exclusive third party games that’s created a walled garden, a lot of criticism has also been thrown at the store’s lack of features. Not only does it lack a lot of basic features, it lacks features that the likes of Steam had as early as 2004. While there has been some slow progress there, like the storefront having a search bar now (which it didn’t launch with). While Epic Games does have a roadmap in place, a recent change to that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
Already Epic had missed a few dates on their feature list. Now it seems they’ve just taken dates out of the equation completely, the company announced. Now it will be a more general overview of what they want to add in the future.
While it’s hard to say for sure, that certainly signals that basic things like wishlists and a shopping cart probably aren’t coming soon. How much that matters is up to you, of course. But regardless of what you may think of the EGS in the grand scheme of things, you have to admit, it’s a pretty barebones store. Hopefully, the company can get things up to snuff soon.
