Looks nice.

Epic Games recently announced its intention to revive its classic Unreal Tournament series- you know, the series of arena shooters that made them big in the first place, and the series of games that their engines are named after. It was a pretty big deal, as it potentially represents the return of the arena shooter- a style of gaming we haven’t seen in a very long time now, especially since Halo changed the expectations of what people expect from a shooter.

However, so far, the new Unreal Tournament has been a bit of an abstraction- it’s under development, but all that it is is a name so far. We have nothing else to put to it. Except now we have the first piece of concept art for the title, and it looks pretty good. It also seems to evoke the classic Unreal games a fair bit.

Hopefully the new Unreal Tournament game is more like the classic PC ones, and not a monstrosity like the one Epic Games released last generation. We’ll see.
