InFamous 2 to feature a mission creator

Posted By | On 02nd, Mar. 2011

Those who were concerned about the potential lifespan of InFamous 2 have had their prayers answered. It has been announced that the game will contain a mission creator that will allow you to create new levels and stories that you can share with the rest of the InFamous community.

The trailer (seen above) listed a variety of missions including defense, escort, search and destroy, survival, shooting gallery, platforming, and obstacle course. Despite the list sounding limited, the possibilities are greatly increased by the ability to place enemies, objects, switches (or nodes as they will be called) that you can connect together and even XP rewards. Once players set a search criteria from the menu, custom content that matches their search will appear in the main hub just like the on disc missions. With the custom content also appearing based on ratings from the community it sort  of sounds a lot like Little Big Planet meeting open world super powered awesomeness.

If you’re really keen to try out the creation tools you’ll be pleased to know that a beta is scheduled for early April. Sucker Punch said details for the testing phase will go live March 14th on their official site.

Thanks to IGN for the info.
