In space, no one can hear you scream.

Well. we’re wondering why no one’s thought of this before: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will feature a deep space setting. And the thing about space is that sound can’t travel in a vacuum. So those signature, bombastic, subwoofer-demolishing explosions would actually be defying the laws of physics right?

Apparently, Infinity Ward’s got that thought out as well. Senior Art Director Brian Horton told PlayStation Blog how Infinity Ward plans on making a plausible space shooter with the loud shooty bits intact.

“In the game, there’s a way your suit can simulate those sounds and impacts through photons so that you have a tactical awareness of your environment. We’ve dampened the sound a little, but it’s still there to make sure the player has a good time. This is actually not science fiction either — it’s actually very plausible.”

So there you have it, simulated sound to enhance tactical awareness. Not bad, Brian, not bad.
