Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

We all knew that when Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes hit the PC, a fresh wave of information regarding Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain would be unleashed. NeoGAF users have posted their most recent findings that were dredged up from the depths of data that shows potential for modding.

Though this isn’t the biggest find in the recent haul. If the Ground Zeroes files are accurate, Metal Gear Solid The phantom Pain will make use of 6 weather patterns that are expected to roll around dynamically , thus altering gameplay in new and interesting ways.

The weather systems include Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Sandstorm, Foggy and Pouring, which is presumably a stepped up version of Rainy. Most of these weather systems are viewable in Ground Zeroes and its various bonus missions which are typically set at different times of day and during different weather cycles.

On top of this, a Cyprus environment has been discovered and confirmed, though its importance in the game remains to be seen. The files also point towards possible settings in Guantanamo and Old Mother Base , in addition to the already known Afghanistan, Middle Africa and Mother Base.
