The Phantom Dust was one of the cult classics of the original Xbox, and it was good to see Microsoft confirm that the property would be returning to the Xbox One with the similarly titled all new installment on the series. That said, apart from an enigmatic teaser, details on exactly just what The Phantom Dust on the Xbox One is have been scarce- is it a sequel? A reboot? Both? How will it play?
Well, now thanks to Ken Lobb’s recent interview on The Inner Circle podcast, we know a little more about the game, and what Microsoft is planning for it.
The game will reportedly feature a 30 hour JRPG campaign, to enable players to unlock all the cards that they need; he also confirmed that PvP will be viable for players about 6 hours into the campaign, when enough cards should have been unlocked that multiplayer becomes feasible. Additionally, the game will feature largely the same story and characters as the original game.
Lobb also confirmed that one of the glaring flaws of the original game, which was that players could play it for hours before even realizing what kind of game it was (an arena card game) will be rectified with this remake.
All of this sounds good to me, guys. Now just actually show us more of the game, please.
