Nintendo is continuing to shutdown more online services on the original Wii. Ever since the release of the Wii U Nintendo has started to discontinue the support of the Wii’s online components.

Today Nintendo has pulled the plug on the following Wii’s online services: Data exchange with Wii Friends, Mii Contest Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, Forecast Channel, News Channel and Nintendo Channel.

It has been 7 or so months ever since the release of the Wii U, the support for the original Wii has gone done tremendously. Hopefully this means that the Wii U will be getting more interesting online features, and Nintendo’s focus will shift towards creating new titles that the Wii U is lacking right now.

Let us know if you’ll be missing the Wii’s online components in the comments section below.
