Persona 5 Reviews Roundup- Stealing Critics’ Hearts

Let the game begin.

Persona 5 is due out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 next week, and ahead of the launch, reviews have gone live today. The verdict? That stupidly long wait, rife with delays, was worth it. Persona 5 currently has a score of 94 on Metacritic, which makes it the second highest rated game of this year (behind only Zelda, but ahead of Horizon: Zero Dawn, NieR Automata, Yakuza 0, and Resident Evil 7), and also the highest rated PS4 game of all time, if remasters are not counted.

The game received a 9/10 from GameSpot, 9/10 from Polygon, an Essential from Eurogamer, a 9.25 from Game Informer, and a staggering 9.7 from IGN. Critics in general love it, and the general consensus is that Persona 5 sets a new benchmark for JRPGs, and is the best one we have received in years.

Our own review of Persona 5 is coming, so hold on tight. In the meanwhile, however, we can continue celebrating just how great this year has been- for Japanese games, and especially for the PS4.
