Epic Games have been at the forefront of next-gen talk, and on more than a few occasions, they’ve talked up the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series. Multiple times, they’ve discussed how they feel next-gen hardware is not only going to bring games closer than ever to photorealistic graphics, but also completely new gameplay experience.

Recently, speaking with the Official PlayStation Magazine in their latest issue, Epic’s chief technology officer Kim Liberi spoke about that a little bit more. More than anything else, he emphasized that the PS5 and Xbox Series X will allow games to have visuals as believable and realistic as movies, before also adding that the two consoles will bring various other improvements to dynamic lighting, AI, physics, multiplayer gameplay, and more.

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine that real-time computer graphics, and in particular games, can be as believable and realistic as a movie,” he said. “Next-gen graphics and processing power will not only make games more immersive, but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much-improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences.”

This is not the first time Liberi’s spoken on this topic. He previously also said that the PS5 and Xbox Series X – as well as Unreal Engine 5 – will bring “a quantum leap in gaming experiences.” Read more on that through here.
