Star Wars: Battlefront Collection Classic recently launched for PC and consoles, bringing enhanced versions of Pandemic Studios’ classic Battlefront titles from the 2000s together and boasting support for large-scale multiplayer battles. Upon launch, however, the collection was met wide widespread backlash and criticism owing to a litany of connectivity and technical issues, with reports even suggesting that the game had, shockingly enough, launched with just three multiplayer servers.

In the aftermath of the collection’s botched launch, developer Aspyr Media has issued a statement in which it says it suffered “critical errors” to its “network infrastructure” upon release, causing several crippling issues. Aspyr says it’s “working to address these issues” and will be continuing its efforts so it can “prevent further outages.”

“At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure,” the developer wrote. “The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.

“Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages.”

During our review process for Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, we were unable to sample its multiplayer offerings, but had a solid time with the rest of the package. Awarding it a score of 8/10, we said, “Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection showcases how a streamlined yet content-packed shooter can still stand out today. Its AI problems and repetition can be a drag, but this is still an essential experience for Star Wars fans.” Read the full review through here.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
