Star Wars Outlaws has looed increasingly promising with each of its new showings, and in the lead up to its release, at the recent Ubisoft Forward showcase, developer Massive Entertainment showed off a new deep dive offering over 10 minutes of new details and gameplay footage.

The deep dive starts with Kay setting a new high score in an arcade game in a cantina (which will presumably be playable in-game), following which she quickly sets off to recruit a new companion. Each companion will be an expert in a different field, and will enable Kay to learn new skills and abilities, from lockpicking to bartering and more.

The deep dive goes on to showcase space flight and combat gameplay, with Kay’s ship, the Trailblazer, duking it out with pirates in the vicinity of an asteroid field in an optional dogfight that ends with the player rescuing a Pyke ship, which in turn improves Kay’s reputation with the Pyke faction.

Afterward, Kay arrives in Mos Eisley on Tattooine, all of which is, of course, under the control of the Hutt faction. After landing her ship on the planet (all of which happens seamlessly, we should note), Kay explores the iconic, fan-favourite city, recreated in impressive detail. She picks up the trail of the gunslinger she’s looking to recruit by asking around in the cantina, which takes Kay to the hills outside the city.

In such environments, players will traverse vast landscapes and wildernesses aboard Kay’s speeder. Kay arrives at a heavily guarded storehouse, where the deep dive takes the opportunity to showcase stealth gameplay, where Kay’s companion Nyx also proves to be quite useful, Kay uses some of her lockpicking skills, and then inevitably gets spotted, leading to an all-out firefight.

Check out the deep dive below for more details. You can also view a new gameplay overview trailer released by Ubisoft.

Star Wars Outlaws launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 30.
