Capcom recently launched new site which is counting down to something on February 20th. While there are certainly a number of possibilities, the countdown’s proximity to the Capcom Pro Tour, which ends on the same day, indicated a Street Fighter-related announcement.
Now according to Jeff Grubb on the latest episode of Grubbsnax (via Idle Sloth on Twitter since only GiantBomb Premium members can access the show), fans can expect Street Fighter 6 to be announced on Monday. It’s not exactly out of left field either – the sequel was expected to launch in 2021 but development troubles resulted in delay and director Yoshinori Ono being taken off the project. Ono would subsequently leave the company later.
Street Fighter 6 is currently rumored to be in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and PC. It could release later this year or even in early 2023, depending on the current state of development. Luke, the final DLC character for Street Fighter 5, is touted to be an “important character” for the future. As always, stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
