Super Mario Odyssey Underwater Kingdom Teased In New Artwork

It's time to jump up in the air.

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey looks like Nintendo unhinged, like their designers were given creative carte blanche, and they just proceeded to go ahead and go nuts. The game’s mechanical and level design seems to utterly top notch- and visually, too, it is extremely interesting to see the kinds of settings that Nintendo seems to be evoking.

That said, of course some classic Mario biomes will be in the game, too. We’ve already seen a desert and forested area, but it looks like there will be an underwater level, too- at least if this new artwork for the game, shared by the Japanese Mario Twitter account, means anything, at any rate.

Underwater levels are traditionally the least liked games in, well, any video game- although Mario games have done some pretty interesting things with them in the past, so it will be interesting to see how Odyssey tackles it. Super Mario Odyssey launches on the Nintendo Switch come October 27.
